Title: SPC inserting and other nonsense
Post by: Lenophis on July 02, 2006, 11:50:27 pm
One thing I must clarify, this is not about inserting SPC's into Chrono Trigger, but another of Square's creations. That being Final Fantasy 6.

I have all of the golden data I need, the SPC pointer table, the number of songs, locations of the songs themselves (irrevelant), and plenty of free space for new songs. And if words aren't enough to convince, a nice disassembly (http://slick.panicus.org/data/junk/Bank%20C5%20disassembly.txt), although relatively uncommented and far from complete should do the trick.

Now, I know I can't just take an SPC file/dump and just plop it in and expect it to work.

There's a few songs I have in mind to add in to FF6's collection for this project I'm doing, and a couple will require to be composed from scratch. That's a chore in itself, a story for another day, and not the reason for this post. This post is about some currently existing SPC's (some from FF4, FF5, CT, Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu II, etc) and adding them in.

I already know this isn't going to be easy by any regards, but so far that hasn't stopped me from doing some of the tweaks that I've had in mind yet. ;)

Does anybody have any insight on how this can be done?

Just a warning: Geiger said on the older ACMLM board that the CT SPCs are incompatible with FF6's SPC system, something about drums being stored differently.
