But Spain is more fanciful than Portugal. Portugal is only good for two things: José Saramago and port.

In that regard, Port is only good for one thing: Wine.

Hi, there, everyone. I'm TeaFlower! Whee!
... just trying to be... normal...
I might not be here all that often (pig of an older brother who uses the computer almost nonstop) but... yeah...
Uh... I've played ALMOST through Chrono Trigger. Note the almost. I have NEVER beaten the game. Feel bad for me... But I'm playing Cross now (gotta go to Divine Dragon Falls) and my brother (who is a pig) has n known to hide my game on me.
So we've hidden the game box.
I'm evil like that sometimes!
My favoritest character in Trigger is Magus and Guile is good in Cross. But he's silly sometimes. Ah, well.
Anywho, I'm here. I'll... be... hiding in the fanfiction... nyuk nyuk...
EDIT: I just beat Chrono Cross for the first time! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! The final boss is easier than the one in CT, who keeps eating me CONSTANTLY. Maybe that's just because I suck.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: V_Translanka on December 05, 2007, 07:17:14 pm
Did you beat Chrono Cross or did you beat Chrono Cross? It sounds like a stupid question, but there IS a difference.

Also, stick with Chrono Trigger (I suggest a party of Crono, Lucca, & Robo)! Those New Game+ endings aren't going to find themselves!
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: teaflower on December 08, 2007, 10:05:02 am
I don't know how to actually beat Cross. But in my book, when you kill the final boss, watch the credits, and then see the 'Fin' screen, that is beating a game. But if beating the game means killing every insane boss, getting everyone's ultimate weapon, and seeing every single ending... GOOD GOD NO. I can barely do that in FF7! (damn you, Emmy and Ruby WEAPON...)

Hmm... Crono, Lucca, and Robo... never thought of something like that. Last try ended with Magus, Marle, and Frog, and the try before that ended Crono, Marle, Magus. I discovered Double Cure, so...
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: V_Translanka on December 08, 2007, 05:27:23 pm
You see, if you don't know how to actually beat Chrono Cross then that means you didn't do it right and got the "crappy ending" by just defeating the boss. What you're supposed to do is use the Chrono Cross in conjunction with the proper colors of Elements...Just defeating the final boss doesn't stop it from coming into existence, y'know. Even if when it does it's dead. Weren't you listening to Belthasar? Well, anyways...now you know...and knowing's half the battle!

... damn, you, Balthasar! Ugh! I DID pay attention... sorta... but this time through, I've decided that as soon as I get the Chrono Cross I'm fighting that thing... AND I AM FREEING SCHALA!

Honestly, my first time through, I thought the Chrono Cross was just to restore your Elements. And it DID do that. So... yeah. Good for me, double the Flying Arrow and double the LightninRod and... more HealAlls! (I LOVE MY HEALALLS.)

Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: teaflower on December 28, 2007, 11:23:07 am
Well, Schala has been freed and now (this is good for me and my siblings) we're thinking of selling Chrono Cross. I do NOT want to sit through all that again... when I finally beat the bloody game, I was missing 9 characters. Oh, well.

... who here knew the Mastermune was weaker than Serge's Rainbow weapon?
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: V_Translanka on December 28, 2007, 06:43:43 pm
The Mastermune/Rainbow Swallow thing can be debated as much as Crono's Shiva Edge/Rainbow Sword, really...The Mastermune & Shiva Edge are if you're up for critical hits, but the Rainbow weapons are your all-arounders because they have the greatest Power ratings.

Anyways...you won't get through the game with all the characters in any event because there are character branches at two points in the game and you can only have Harle in the end via New Game+. Play it again on New Game+! The Time Shifter makes it all a lot easier to get through...ALL games featuring a New Game+ should have a freakin Time Shifter, now that I think about it...

And seriously, sell it? It's a PSX game and it had two Greatest Hits runs. It's not scarce so you might as well keep it. If you're planning on selling it, do what I'll eventually do and bundle it w/Chrono Trigger & FFChronicles! :P

Post by: teaflower on December 28, 2007, 09:13:27 pm
Hmm...... Honestly, I don't want to go through another Chrono Cross kick. I mean, the monies can go towards buying Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney...

OBJECTION!

... shut up, Edgeworth...
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: V_Translanka on December 29, 2007, 02:23:01 pm
That's the point though: what monies?
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: MsBlack on December 29, 2007, 02:29:27 pm
The monies teaflower thinks she will obtain from selling Cross (and which you seem to think are negligible). Heh, now you have another quote to answer a quote.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: teaflower on December 29, 2007, 02:48:18 pm
I can dream, yes? I want to be able to say, "Take THAT, Edgeworth! Hahaha!!!" ... although my sis will take the monies 'cause SHE bought it.

But other than the monies, we see no reason to keep it around. My brother has never even dreamed of playing Trigger, my sister got a bit stuck and thinks the whole series is crap, and I DO NOT WANT TO GO ON ANOTHER KICK. Seriously! I'd rather go on a vicious Sly Cooper kick! (FEAR THE RACCOON...) Once is enough for me! Even TWICE is fine! (Thank you, V_Translanka, for telling me that something spiffy would happen if I used the Chrono Cross correctly, it triggered a second kick of Chrono Cross...) But three is too much.

(by the way, a 'kick' is when you play something nonstop. Kicks in our house often consist of vicious Sly kicks, Puzzle League kicks (almost as fearsome), and the occasional Final Fantasy kick. To date, I am the ONLY one in the house to have gone on a Chrono Cross kick...)

Also referred to as binges, spells, sprees, and bathroom-break-onlys.

But there's also all those tiny scenes of Character Development you'll only get if you take just the right character(s) to just the right place/person at just the right time! And, hey, you'll never know down the line, you might get nostalgic for some Chrono love...you are in a Chrono forum, y'know?

Good point... plus, I need to stop taking Guile everywhere I go. What REALLY hurt my first time through was when you go see the Dragoons in the bar and Guile is hiding back there. He says he can't go with you and I cry inside.

Although, Chrono is keeping me from... Chrono! I HAPPEN to be at the Undersea Palace in Chrono Trigger and guess what my Dream Splash thing is about? Yeah, I'm wonderously stuck. And everytime I boot up the emulator, I say, 'My story doesn't have it happen like that! AAAAAAGH! *sobangstweep* Oh, well. Let's play Chrono Trigger!' It's frustrating for me. And I've picked up the Earthbound ROM... and I so terribly want to play Soul Calibur... ANGRIFYING!!!

... plus, I haven't really felt like writing lately...

 This is vary interesting, the way you type is vary close to the way I speak in person. I have never in my life seen it in writing before, its quite fascinating to say the least. I never try and think about what I say when talking, its never as pure when one does that, but when typing I am forced to analyze what and how to say what I am saying.

I'ts very hard to... wait...

YOU USED THE WRONG VERY.

... excuse me! When I type, it's sort of like word vomit, where what I think just sort of comes, but it might just be because I type really fast. But many times, when I look back at my typed freehand I say, 'OMGZ, what in the world are they thinking when I type that?!' So, I delete half of it.

Thank you for the comment, by the way!

You know, somehow this thread has gone from me saying 'Hi!' to 'I type funny.'

The modern version drops the "e" to form judgment. Which is kind of weird in my opinion, but who said that english spellings made much sense to begin with?

Hi hi! I'm new here. My boyfriend showed me Prophet's Guile and I was having trouble with it, so it brought me here. :P

I'm a HUGE Chrono Trigger fan (as I'm sure we all are). I have the Japanese and U.S. releases for SNES and Playstation. xD I'm such a nerd. Lol. I also have custom made plushes of Crono, Schala, and Janus. ^o^ I didn't really enjoy Chrono Cross all that much. The cut scenes were pretty, and the music was awesome, but I didn't really enjoy the gameplay or story all that much. :/ I'm eagerly awaiting Chrono Crisis though!

If you want to know more about me, you can just check out my MySpace page in my profile. :P Just wanted to drop in here and introduce myself. ^^

Ummm.. I believe that her only imposter, is the one you're addressing with your post here.

Yeah... Anyone who has anything bad to say about Schala's appearance in Chrono Cross, obviously didn't get the point of the whole story and really needs to play the game again.

Either that or grow out of love of a bunch of fictional characters that not even Square Enix cares about anymore!!

Oh and welcome 'Schala'.

'Tis only to be expected. Every aspect of Schala's character may cause contention. Anyone remember the debates over her hair color?

Chrono Fan 1: It was dye! Blue hair dye, I say!!

Chrono Fan 2: No, you fool! Lavos clearly sucked the blue out of her hair!

*fist fight breaks out*

Ah, to fight over a videogame character's hair color. Schala is that awesome.

For my part, I must admit I was underwhelmed with Schala in Chrono Cross. Not Kid -- her character was extraordinary IMO, a fascinating take on nature v. nurture -- but Schala encased in the Time Devourer's crystalline prison. When I read Toasty Frog's classic Cross FAQ and discovered Schala would be in the game, I was expecting magnanimous angelic brilliance that would conform to my fan imagination -- something like this:

(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9480/schala1pr7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/2338/schala2yk3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(Fanarts by lycan and -- d'oh! I didn't record who authored the second one.)

But alas, the modelers had other ideas. Some disappointment was bound to occur in the transition from 2D to 3D. Still, once you've seen the textures and vertices in all their intricate detail, you have to appreciate the work that went into all of Chrono Cross' character models.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Schala on February 12, 2008, 10:18:04 pm
xD Haha. Oh well. I mean, I liked Kidd too. She was pretty awesome. But Schala trapped with Lavos? Not so much...

And those are some really nice fanarts btw.

Hello all. I've also been lurking around the compendium for quite some time, about a year or so. I finally decided to make an account now, so here I am! I'm a huge Chrono fan, more Trigger than Cross (Which I hear everyone say, but my only reason is that I like old school games more, has nothing to do with the typical whining people tend to do about Cross). Actually, the only problem I have with Cross is that Serge was another mute character. I really hate it when games have the silent main character, makes me feel like Link is the main character. >.<

I also have to say, Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile is bad ass. GREAT work on that hack. I was blown away.

Anywho, I'm currently working on a hack of CT, which is coming along rather nicely, I think. I just learned a few tricks today, one being how to change the default names (Thanks again, justin3009), so "Frog" is not named after his appearance anymore. I always thought Crono should have been "Boy" and Marle "Girl" if they were going to take that approach.

I tend to babble on forums, forgetting what I originally wanted to say. Sorry.

I'm Anacalius, most people call me either "Cali" or "Teeps", but I don't expect that from anyone here, but feel free if you remember. =P

Peace

Haha.
Thanks.
Teeps stems from "Teepo", (BoF3) by the way. I used that name on FFXI and never seemed to live it down online. Not sure really how it's stuck with me this long. I haven't even played FFXI for years, aside from a 3 month span about 3 months ago.  I really have grown a strong hatred for that game.

Hmm.... interesting; a hack, eh?  :) Well, welcome Anacalius! I hope your stay is an interesting one.

I never was a really a fan of FFXI either. (But it was a good time waster, I guess...)

I hated the game from day one, really. It's whole system was just stupid, but I started playing it with my brother and a few friends, and we had some fun times. Mostly, that game kept me for the people, the game itself just pissed me off more than anything. x.x

Teeps, eh? Well, doesn't that beat all? BoF3 was the fucking shit...I wish I hadn't traded my copy in back then...FFT is the only traded in game I've managed to salvage...V_V

Welcome to all you non-n00b n00bs! Damn, I barely remember that old version of the Compendium...Lookit that! Main analysis articles were news updates! By all that's holy, it did used happen that way...! :'(

But it could happen that way again (well, unless ol' Zeality tells us "no" straight out).

I know the world is lost in fire but surely there is a way to turn it back to the old days of bliss and cheerful laughter.

or at least so Hansi Kürsch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_guardian) tells me.

Find him for his keen mind or some other service?

If it is for his mind, which burns bright, then other minds might on wings dare aspire and other hands might dare seize the fire.

As a man, I'm afraid there is little to be done. But if GrayLensman might be a symbol... then he can be incorruptible and everlasting. Beneath the mask of a moniker, there is more than flesh, there is an idea and ideas are bulletproof, as it were.

Ooooo, a William Blake reference...noice. If the Compendium had a Rep system, you'd be gettin some from me!

But, anyways, yeah...it's really sad that so much of the Compendium's upper crust have gone on to do...w/e it is they're doing...But the Chrono Community will continue to thrive regardless!

Yeah, BoF3 is one of my all time favorites. I did the same thing as you, sadly. I traded in lots of my old stuff, which I heavily regret now. I'll manage to find one sooner or later, hopefully. You ever play BoF4 of 5? I liked 4 a lot but I've never gotten the chance to play 5. >.<

One can only go so far with a series, before it gets dull, with just 3 games to analyze and discuss.  3 games where a good many things are speculation or best guess...

I have to agree with that. The great thing about this though is the fact that the 3 games are masterpieces (although RD isn't really a "part" of the series anymore, storywise, it still holds a lot for the series, I think). The great thing about the speculation part of the series is what leaves it wide open for the ROM hacking community. If you can't get the answers you want from games, make them yourselves. I actually just started playing Cross again, as of last night. I haven't played it in about 2 or so years, I forgot how awesome it truly is. =D

Ah, but that is the most fun! With so much that is speculation and guesswork, the mind can roam free and find wonderfully clever connections. We aren't just building a house of cards, we're building a cathedral of cards!

Nope, I've only played BoF1-3 and I think they kept getting better & better. Always pissed that neither Ryu or Rei never made it into any of Capcom's Vs games. I mean, wtf? Hurry up & do Capcom Vs Square-Enix already!

But yeah, the Chrono Community is more than just analysis, maybe not a lot more, but w/e...there are lots of fan game projects (though most die horribly), fanfics, & song remixes up the WAZOO!

I think RD is just as much a part of the series as any of it. It's just how the series works as far as we know. They just start in new 'timelines' each game, heck, even CT starts in a new timeline when you get down to it...but w/e.

I expected that response and I agree as well.  Not having to be railroaded is preferable, indeed.  I was more getting at that one person can't go on wandering free in the same realm forever (unless of course, it is their life's passion), which is why the 'upper crust' have moved on to other mindfields...

Nope, I've only played BoF1-3 and I think they kept getting better & better.

I've only touched BoF4 so far, but I plan to get my hands on 1-3 and 5 as well.... I enjoyed 4 a lot

As for FFXI, it was an ok game.  I bought it when it came out, played it for a couple weeks then stopped completely, then about a year later I started again and my game time was about 31 days, so a month of my entire life was spent on that game...not near as much as some others who has a couple years to it.  I do not enjoy the time and effort that needs to be put forth for an MMORPG...it is just too much.  I prefer a nice quality single player game, always.  FFXI was my first and last online game.  Fun while it lasted but not something I will get in to.

BoF4 in my opinion is not quite as good overall as BoF3. 3 was much longer, for one. 4 does have a better system for battling and whatnot, overall, but I would still choose 3. 4 is better than 1-2, though, for sure.

And yes, I agree 100% on the MMORPG statement. It makes me mad actually that I wasted as much of my life as I did no the game.

Yeah, that testament is really something. Over the last few days, I've started to realise how the structure of the bible is just like every other storybook though. You really notice it when you look at the way the setup for organizing the Chrono Testament is:
Antagonist
Protagonist
Villains
Wicked One
etc.

Hell, if any story is going to be complete, doesn't it need most if not all of these factors? It is peculiar though how they showed such close similarities of CT to the bible.

Anywho, welcome aboard Domenico! Enjoy your stay!

Sad they people haven't realised that the gaming industry has an addiction to graphics now. It's not even about the GAMEPLAY anymore, just how it looks....

I'm sorry, I really don't mean to insult your love for Wii here, but what is the difference between that and the other consoles (Besides the controller)? Wii's collection of games is just as lacking (if not more) in gameplay than the other consoles (all of which have a pretty crappy collection of games). I don't see much potential in any area of the gaming industry right now (besides the DS). Honestly, who can deny that the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era started off with a WAY bigger collection of quality games than this generation of consoles? I think they were in too much of a rush to produce some eye candy and get it on the shelves as quickly as possible than focusing on what it was all supposed to be about - GAMEPLAY and VARIATION.

Obviously, this is just my opinion, though. -_-

No doubt, there was a lot of crap going on in the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era as well, and the PS1/Saturn/N64 era started off way better on top of that. I think both of those eras were pretty successful though overall. Sure there were shovel loads of BS dumped into it as well, but there was an immense amount of good, quality games for them all.
By that same token, I am probably being a bit too pessimistic about the current generation, I'm sure there will be tons of quality games in the future (I have yet to find something that makes it worth buying any of them though).
Time will tell, I suppose. But classic games are still the way to go. =P

But I suppose I just never liked games where the characters were so unimportant to the story that they could be replaced with such ease. Still, 3 was good in that some parts of the plot did change depending on who you selected to be in your party.

That's exactly what I thought... I didn't feel anything for any of the characters since there were six and you pretty much chose who you played as.  Sure, the storylines changed according to the characters present, but it just wasn't enough for me to invest any emotions into.

Dude... C'mon, for 1993 RPG's those were thought out characters!  Randi's momma was the freaking MANA TREE, and was left abandoned by his dying father in the village of Potos...  Purim's beloved, Dyluck, was taken and turned into a mental zombie by Thanatos, and Popoie was the last of his kind.

And that's just the starting facts.

Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom - '90
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium - '93 (though, admittedly late in '93)
Final Fantasy IV - '91
Final Fantasy V - '92
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom (lots of Doom back then, eh?) - '93

I think all of those games (possibly more...I'd have to look through more release dates) did better than Seiken Densetsu II at developing the characters (not entirely sure on PSIII though since I haven't gotten that far in it though). *shrugs*

Has anyone played the new Mana games?  I don't have a DS and my PS2 is permanently out of condition to play PS2 game (although, strangely enough, it plays PS1 games)...  All of them got slightly above average to slightly below average reviews (except for a few scattered ones).

Children of Mana was pretty much a dungeon crawler if I understand correctly...
Heroes of Mana was obviously a mesh-up, widely including RTS elements...
Dawn of Mana was pretty much all about combat...

For those who have played any of them, what's your take?

Haven't played 'em, but I think I read that Masato Kato was on scenario design for one, possibly all of them -- and that the scenario totally bombed. What's up with that? Is it that Kato wasn't inspired by the subject matter? Is he secretly yearning to write a fourth Chrono scenario, and Square-Enix's pussyfooting is putting him down?

And lest anyone think I've just made a sexist slur:

Yea, I rented it twice, but could never get past Zio (I think his name was), in that tower.

Then I tried to emulate it some 10 years later, and took care of him, no problem.  But then the ROM froze at some other boss battle, I forget who, though....that's what I get for relying on save states.

That's what emulation's for, friend! Although I think it's retarded that they did the Phantasy Star Collection on GBA but failed to include The End of the Millennium! I'm hoping that means they'll do a 3D DS remake (score!)!! Anyways...

Apparently I'm one of the few who actually really appreciates Sword of Mana...I mean, it's easily one of the best remakes I've seen...Most people I see who bash it had never played FFAdventure/FF Gaiden: Seiken Densetsu...I still haven't gotten through a lot of it though, actually...I had started two/both quests! So, yeah, it was like playing the same game at the same time only slightly different perspectives...which I found kind of neat.

Yeah, the whole PS series' spell & item names take some getting used to...Them & their "originality"...It's kind of nice, kind of annoying...but in the end, it's only a small learning curve...definitely needs a remake so that they can address this issue (by having spell & item descriptions!!!!!!!)...:P

It is entirely because of all of you that I am now forced (yes, forced) to play through Lufia II (my favorite from the series).

Hi...I just joined a bit back (5 minutes ago).

I just joined mostly for help. I'm doing a ROM hack for CT (using it's engine to make a brand new game, as well as palette swapping characters [try palette 192 for Magus, it's pretty sweet]), and I need some help with it. I have played both games but never got around to beating CC because I lost my second disc and I was to lazy to find a ROM. :(

Welcome!  The more MODs the better!  There's plenty around here that should help you.  There's modding tutorials and plenty of Chrono details - stats, characters, places, etc.  Obviously it's a compendium!  Hahahaha...  I crack myself up.

(Bad joke, I know...)

Anywho, best of luck and don't be afraid to ask for help!

Hi, I'm Delta dragon.  Uhh, not much to say.  Chrono cross is like my favorite game of all time.  It's kind of funny.  I played Chrono cross before Chrono trigger.  I first played CC about a year or two ago and just instantly fell in love with it.  Even though I didn't get half the plot.  The I just beat CT a few months ago.  I am currently playing through CC again and finding how much more sense it makes.  I played them both on PS1.  For like 6 years that's the only system I had until this Christmas got a Gamecube.

I'm a casual lurker who's decided to join the forums so I can voice my excitement for the NDS version AND my disappointment that CT won't get the special treatment that the FF series are getting (3D remake). :(

I also get eargasm listening to CT and CC music, some are nostalgic enough to bring me close to tears. Anyway, that's our little secret. ;)

Well, welcome, then! Trust me, I know what you mean about the music. There's a site that has specific tracks played only on piano. I love it. To pieces. It's awesome hearing Time's Scar played with nothing but the piano.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!

Time's scar?  Is that the song it plays in the dead sea after it's been destroyed and there are time distortions?  Or is that the main theme?
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: teaflower on September 06, 2008, 01:54:42 pm
Time's Scar is the song that plays during the opening FMV. It's an awesome song. (if you listen hard enough, you can actually hear the flutist taking a breath, which makes it just that much more awesome)

Technically, it IS getting the same treatment, only at a slower pace...It got the PSX port (which came out I think a year or so after the FFIV-VI ports), but it missed out on the GBA enhance ports, so it's like they're doing that now only for the DS...>_>

Okay.  I always get confused because one of the remixes I really like is Time's new scar and it's the song in the area I mentioned.  It's a piano remix so I was curious if it was the same.

I never was fond of Time's New Scar. Too long, not enough action for my tastes. Another Fair is one of my favorites, as well as Crossfire.

There are only like 3 Piano remixes I can motivate myself to listen to anytime.  That one, and the other two are from the Sonic 3 and Knuckles project.

On OC Remix, the project is called Project chaos.  There actually 4 piano ones I think.  I can never remember the names of the remixes, but the levels they are of are Ice cap, Lava reef, those are the ones I like, the multiplayer menu, and Chrome gadget.

You mean one of my favorite songs from a Sonic game EVER (the others being Flying Battery, Chemical Plant, Mystic Mine, and the special stage songs from 2 and 3) is on one of my favorite instruments (the others are harp, guitar, and flute) and I don't have it?

We express our feelings quite profusely. Go ahead and read the fifth page of my Springtime of Youth page.

I've been using my mom's compie for almost a month or so now. My own computer, Mouse, is horribly slow and I don't know why. I run AVG when I can. I can't connect to the Internet, and the slowness of it frustrates me. I haven't turned it on except for DDR. My mom's compie, forever known as Compie the Compie, is pretty nice. I actually sent myself two emails of things I want to download, specifically Chrono Beat (damn obsession problems) and something else.

It's just a pet peeve of mine, chat speak on a forum. I mean, it's not IM. You should have time to thoughtfully write out a response. Maybe it generally stems from my upbringing by an English major mother and a photography major sister who is also a creative writer and part-time English major. It's complicated, don't ask.

No, no! It's not that it's not allowed! It's just that it drives ME up a wall! It's perfectly acceptable as long as it's easily understood. 'Kay?
I imagine that homeschooling SUCKS. Most of my friends I've met at school. I'd hate to have that social aspect of my life sucked away. I'm pretty sure that the social interactions with your peers has been proven to actually increase scores of children. However, you can manipulate 90% of statistics to say what you want them to say 50% of the time. (I got that from Pierce in Latin class.)

I think I've actually seen someone use that avy too, but it's just from one of the anime sequences and not something someone made or w/e...I don't really care what you use though, tbh...I just find it a pain when someone doesn't use a unique avy (and/or sig) because I usually identify people (& their posts) more on that than names...Which is obviously a personal problem...>_>

I am known as the Sword Fighter, Dago. I have only played Chrono Trigger for two years, but I already love it! When I finish my newly acquired Chrono Trigger DS, I think I'm going to try my hand at its sequel, Chrono Cross. The things that intrigue me about Chrono Trigger is its detail, subtleties and hidden meanings. I hope I'll find the same when I play 'Cross. Oh, and pleased to meet you all!

Hi there, Chrono Compendium!

I'm GlitterBerri, a Canadian student living in Japan. Three years ago I began playing the Japanese version of Chrono Trigger, the first game I had played in another language. Not only was it excellent practice, but also a game with a storyline that drew me in and had me thinking about the characters as though they were real people. The style of the game was comparable to a good book, a world that drew you in and made you feel as though you were there yourself.

I will be happy to help out in keeping the fanbase informed by passing on Japanese-only information. Pre-release, debug, unseen, and beta content also fascinates me, so I've been wondering where I can find more information about these aspects in Chrono Trigger.

Looking forward to talking with you,
~GlitterBerri

Hmm... Now I'm confused whether you've been on the forums before.

I made an account called Strawberry and posted twice, is that what you mean? I decided to make one under my regular username. It seems there's a lot of stuff to be done at the Chrono Compendium so I'll be here for awhile.

Nice introduction, welcome to the forums~!

I don't have much of a YouTube presence, but I've translated some unused beta and debug text from Final Fantasy VII that people have incorporated into their videos. It can be found at the following links, though it's recommended you read the original Face of the Moon articles as they're much more nicely formatted than mine.

Ah, that's really cool, I'll have a read through this.

If I remember correctly, aren't there a few unused Aerith lines that take place after she's supposed to die?
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!

There are some Aeris/Aerith lines after she dies, but the unused lines from FF7 that Glitterberri translated are (mostly) the ones that got blanked out during the translation.

Hello everyone. My name is Skylark, and I have been lurking amongst this site for some time. Only yesterday did I finally have the nerve to register.

I have been a fan of Chrono Trigger for some time, and an even bigger fan of Schala. Problem is, I don't think I've quite found that thin line between healthy respect and blatant fanboyism. -_-;

Anyway, nice to meet you all. ^_^

I'm assuming the intentional misspelling of 'tot he party' is some sort of inside joke I'm not aware of? (Too lazy to search the entire boards atm.) :P
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: teaflower on March 04, 2009, 05:38:28 pm
'tot he party' was ZeaLitY, one of our main mods, and one of his typos, if I remember correctly. It just sort of stuck. I guess. But if you look on the second page of this topic, you see that Z says 'Welcome tot he party.' Then, two posts down, cupn00dles, around when I first joined, quotes him and says, 'You know you can stop writing that if you're not comfortable with it, right? Nobody will blame you, I promise.' (god, I'm never going to get used to this new keyboard.

And if you look further, you see either my first or second post.

I was completely different then.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: skylark on March 04, 2009, 06:05:54 pm
Well, that explains it. Most mods I know of would not have been so cool about that. :p

And I just read through the entire topic. What a difference a year can make.

Then again, I was the same way the first time I ever posted on a board, and now everyone there is like an extended family, and I don't have to worry about sounding awkward.

Yes, I am at the Crisis forums as well, no I did not steal Gaspar's name(he's a very active member over there, and maybe here as well? I don't know), I actually registered before him. Though I did kind of put two CT characters' names together.... =P

Well here I go,

Hello, I am Magnificant Marcus,

I started playing Chrono Trigger when I was at my cousin's house roughly 12 years ago. Since then I played Chrono Cross and the new DS remake of Chrono Trigger.  I have a problem where I have developed an addiction to Chrono games. I can't help it; these games are just amazing. For awhile now, I was roaming around on the fourms until found the courage to join.

There was my slightly random introduction.

Hello. My name is Liza. I come from TEH USSR... but I've been living in California for quite some time now. I spent a year and a half in Japan teaching English and I really enjoyed it. If you have any questions about that , feel free to ask.  I am working on a Masters Degree in Library Science right now. I don't think I'm going to be a librarian, though. I want to be a cataloger or archivist. My program became completely online... starting next semester, so I'm usually not up to much. CT is my favorite game, so I decided to join this forum. I don't really know much about CC, though. Mainly because I never had a PSX... I like joining forums, but I sometimes cause trouble and get banned.  But I only do that in places where there is a good population of pricks and assholes, which there really aren't here, so I will be very good : ).
I've been going to forums for 10 years now! If I don't get banned, I tend to stick around for quite a while, so I hope that will be the case (well I don't think I'll get banned, but I hope I stick around)

How long has this forum been around? I seem to remember the website being around for quite some time...

Oh in case you're curious "Zaichik" means "bunny" or "honey" in Russian(it's a term of affection) and Arky is short for Arcanine, the pokemon. I'm not into pokemon as much as I was 10 years ago(yeah it really has been that long!!) but I still like Arcanine.

Nice to meet everyone. Oh and if you want to practice your voice acting, check out my voice acting project in the Kajar Labs forum : D.

Ha, Liza huh, that's cool...I was under the impression that 1) you were a guy & 2) your name was Zack and you were just being funny with the spelling! lol...and, yeah, bannings aren't thrown around liberally around here, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

This place has been around since late 2003 (I've been here since back then even!)...though it's real roots started as a Chrono thread over at OCR (http://www.ocremix.org) (which I was not a part of at all)...

But, anyways...WELCOME!! Here's a RANDOM GOOGLE'D ARCANINE for ya (and again, by "random", I mean I picked the one with bewbs)...

Добро пожаловать, Лиза! Приятно мне читать, что у нас приехал русском или украйнском члену. :D

Welcome! I'm rather new as well, and also sport a Russian title, though probably I beefed the transliteration. Neat that you spent a year and a half in Japan, teaching English. I'd thought of doing the same sort of thing, except I'd want to go to Siberia for it.

In any case, this is a great little place - always bustling with trivia and activity. Welcome!

Cool you can speak Russian. I can't really read very well, but I understood your sentence, I think. At first I thought you said you were from Ukraine XD. I'm from Russia... but back when it was still the USSR. Heh. Are you learning Russian? I should do that. And who would VOLUNTARILY go to Siberia? I guess you are interested in cold tundra with freezing weather XD. Or maybe you're tired of this global warming and want to go to a place where it hits negative temperatures a significant part of the year. hehe.

Oh, trust me - I live in Canada so negative temperatures aren't a problem, LoL.

I study Soviet history, so as part of the degree requirements I had to take a few years of Russian. I lived in St Petersburg / Leningrad for four months in 2006 as part of my program, and went back to visit this summer. My written / spoken grammar is pretty atrocious these days, but reading and listening isn't too bad.

As for Siberia... it'd be cold, but I think in the summer it would be a nice break from the cities! :D

Yeah I'm glad I went to Canada in the summer ^_^*. I'd like to go back. I would SOOO love to go to the winter olympics. They're on the side of canada that I'm closest to, but I'm so pissed off they won't make deals for Americans. As far as I understand, ALL foreigners have to purchase these special deals which are hundreds of dollars for a couple days. Gah. One of these days I'll make it to the olympics >_>. Maybe they'll have it in California again... lol. It happened once in the 60s!

I'm a lover of writing, music, gaming, philosophy, world history and a plethora of subgenres I can't be arsed to jot down all at once. I've mostly just lurked on this site for ages, but I joined tonight because I plan on seeing if there's anything I can do with that whole secret project schpiel.

I know dick about the Stargate series...Just randomly watched a bunch of SG-1 and some Atlantis...Stargate Universe, a new series I know extra nothing about, is apparently inspired by Firefly (http://io9.com/5232132/stargate-universe-the-mockumentary-series) though, so it's gotta be at least a little cool!

Oh, and welcome, Jeff Zero! Does that mean you're Jeff without the calories...?
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Jeff Zero on May 04, 2009, 12:24:27 pm
Yeah, the show's producers do indeed love them some Firefly, but in terms of deep characterization and worthy execution, I'll believe it when I see it.

See, I enjoy the Stargate franchise tremendously, but something it often lacks is the raw, visceral feel of such works as Firefly and BSG. Supposedly, that's what they're aiming for with this third series, so I'm looking forward to it.

And yes, I'm Jeff without the calories. Or perhaps this was a lame alias idea I had when I was like eleven. Or both. The world may never know.

I originally joined this site just to ask a question about something but I figure since I'm here I might as well look around a bit, since I've been to this site (but not the forums) several times before. I am (like pretty much everyone else :I ) working on a hack for CT currently; nothing grandiose but it's coming along pretty well, considering that I know next to nothing about programming or hacking.

Anyways, this place looks fairly interesting, thought I have not looked around much just yet.

Welcome, Uninventive Username (what's that supposed to me? XD)!

Oh man, if you'd only have been here a month ago you'd have received a lot of support for your project at Kajar Labs. Unfortunately the recent C&D incident shook the environment hard enough to make the compendium's project dreams stand on a double edged sword. It's obvious many here would love to help you with some knowledge and sort, but currently all projects (especially rom modification) is a dark subject these days, so it'd be best to keep it out of Compendium until the situation is under control (however, you can still work on it and release it elsewhere, because that's your decision ;3 and many fans would love to play it).

But besides that there are still a hell lot of fun things to do hear. Hope you enjoy your stay, and a lot of Chrono to deal with. ^^ Welcome aboard!

Haha, thank you for the welcome tushantin.

To be clear, I wasn't going to bother anyone with my boring little project, as it was just something I'd thought I'd do on the side, to better acclimate myself to programming and hacking. You know, basic hardtype stuff with a few re-added items and whatnot, and some re-instrumented music thrown in for good measure. This is actually the first time I mentioned even doing a hack, as my last ones were released completely anonymously (though one of which was pretty well received).

That aside, I'd still like to stay around a bit and see what's what.

I guess I should start comic-reliefing for the sake of the mood of the site overall?

My name is Ksenia and I'm Russian. I'm a huge fan of all the Chrono series (never bought any legal copy of SE games though, but who cares?) Chrono games can bring a wonderful feeling of inspiration, that's why I love them so much!

About the silence: It is not a philosophy)) It's just some kind of reference to one episode in CC or RD(can't remember-_-") when the password was "silence".

Post by: Truthordeal on June 25, 2009, 09:09:54 pm
It might be a bit overdue, but I suppose I might as well formally introduce myself.

I'm Truthordeal. I originally found this site a while back, around the beginning of the year. I ended up getting CT:DS for Christmas, which rekindled my love for the Crono series. Listening to Mitsuda's music(especially Singing Mountain, which I'd never heard before) was really awe-inspiring after all this time.

Well, I started looking around on Google and found the site that held the Crimson Echoes demo as well as a link to Chrono Testament, which is now hosted on this site. I played and read, and I liked both, so I started following the development of CE almost religiously. I started reading the encyclopedia here and got lost for hours on end reading it.

After the C&D, I followed the CEMemorial Playthrough every day. When the end started coming around, I decided to join the Compendium officially.

I'm not much of a ROM hacker(the most I've ever done was simple text changes), I can't draw, and I can't compose music. But I still plan on contributing something while I'm here.

Hi everyone!  I signed up just recently, so I figured the welcome thread would be the most practical place to start posting.  I stumbled across the Compendium about 6 months ago.  I really can't get over how fantastic this site is, so how the hell could I not get an account??  :D  The very least I could do is extend a huge thank you to everyone who maintains, runs, and keeps this website alive.  It's certainly satisfied a lot of my Chrono-obsessiveness, heh.  XD

Cheers!

I agree, this place is great.  And, getting to know the community here has been rewarding and eye-opening on many levels for me.  Good people here, I think you'll find.

I don't think I've extended proper thanks to everyone who keeps up this place.  I hope sincere brevity is befitting here:  Thanks!   :franky

Haha it's okay!  Don't feel bad!

That's a shame about the male to female ratio.  More girls should play video games!  There's no reason why girls shouldn't love (or at the very least, play) the Chrono games.

^ Fairly accurate ratio. A lot of people think I'm a guy too. What's funny is that when people think that Zephira is a guy lol.

Welcome to the party. I hope you stick around considering we can't seem to get girls to stay >_>;. I liek gurrrrls.

Someone's kid needs to do a "I liek goils"  video and post it on youtube. that would be really funny considering that's one of those funny words some little kids can't pronounce, just like "I liek toitles".

I would like to take this time to introduce myself to all assembled.  My name is Wes, I am 27, married and a father of two.  I currently do not work in favor of home-schooling my children which lends to me much time to haunt forums such as here.

I have been visiting Chrono Compendium for a rather long time and have just now decided I should participate to some degree.

Playing console RPG's has always been a constant parallel to all other aspects of my life.  I have gathered up around me all I have ever been able to find in some mad pursuit of playing through them all.  I got an NES from an estranged grandmother for Christmas in 1989 and as a lark she bought me one game with said system:  Dragon Warrior.  From that point forward RPG's were what I was doing when I didn't have to be anyone or anywhere else.

I should also state that I had Chrono Trigger within hours of its US release.  I read a Nintendo Power Epic Center article on it and all I needed to see frankly was that it vaguely resembled Final Fantasy 3(VI).

To pay for this game, I shoveled out horse stalls for a month.

My passions are writing and role-playing games...that is to obviously include my family.

My wife is an amateur artist who is of professional skill who curiously does not aspire to change that.

I greatly admire the devotion the members of this forum show to the things that they love.  I believe that you can find passion and inspiration and even principles with which you may live your life by within role-playing games.

Regardless of all of that, I do wish to say that I hope I may be an asset to this place.  My memory is nearly supernatural in regards to what I have read or observed, particularly where RPG's are concerned.  That is, I suppose, some thing.

Everyone has at least one superpower.

Post by: The Secret Skeleton on October 09, 2009, 07:46:15 pm
My episodic memory is exceptional.  I am able to develop relationships between my memories to best recall them by remembering a single memory which then brings forth others.  I remember things by association, like I remember that when I first bought Chrono Trigger I had a friend named Alex.  With that expression, I can therefore recall other things, such as the discussions Alex and I had about the meanings of the game...and our conclusions we came to.

Oddly, I cannot remember dates well.  I cannot say, "I remember in 1995 I bought Chrono Trigger."  I would have to look the year up, I just remember, "I bought Chrono Trigger the year it came out."  I can then remember many things from that period of time, but for some reason I never associate it with the numerical date.

I also pride myself on my creativity.  I run a Dungeons & Dragons 1E game on Sundays, and I honestly feel flattered by the praise I receive from my players.  I know how to tell a story, I can honestly say that.

I can also reverse-engineer almost anything.  If I play with something long enough, I can figure it out.

I would like to help someone on a fan game as a producer.  I can put together a project and stay with it.

Also, I am not being snide, but there is no such thing as audiographic memory.  Photographic--or eidetic memory, encompasses sounds as well as pictures.  So, there you go, you can say eidetic memory.  Also, you don't have to call it "near" photographic, you just don't call it "literal" photographic.  That's the difference.

Howdy.

I actually joined sometime during the summer, but I was never very active. I plan on changing that.

A little bit about myself. I'm a senior in high school. I love playing video games, namely those from Square Enix and Atlus. Some of my favorites: Chrono series, Final Fantasy series, The World Ends With You, Legacy of Ys, Kingdom Hearts, and many, many others. My Chrono experience? I've had Chrono Cross since I was a kid with a PSX. Though I didn't play it much back then, I still thought it was amazing and to this day I consider Chrono Cross as my favorite game. After finally completing it, I thought I should catch up on its history and buy CT:DS, and when I was through with that I finished with Radical Dreamers.

Anyway, I love the Chrono series, and I love this site (I've been on and off for a year or two now). Great job so far guys. I'm hoping I can be of some help and be a regular here in the forums.

Hmm let me think, I like The White Ship, The Cats of Ulthar, Nyarlathotep, The Music of Erich Zann, The Whisperer in Darkness and most of all The Colour Out of Space, I find its atmosphere very haunting (in a good way). There are more stories but those are the first that come up in my head, when I fight Lavos in CT I always think of Lovecraft. :)

Hi!  My name is Ross, and I am a gamer, and have been for almost 25 years.  In that time one of my favorite games came out in 1995.  In the fifteen years since the release of Chrono Trigger, I've probably beaten that game 100+ times.  I own it for SNES, Playstation, Nintendo DS and I eagerly await a PS3 remake.  Even more than that I search the Chrono Compendium on a regular basis for anything Chrono related.  I also played Chrono Cross quite a bit as well.  I've also had a few looks at a lot of the Chrono Fan Projects.  Anyway, I just wrote to introduce myself, and hopefully share in a love of gaming that I've had over 2 decades.

Wow, this is freaky, I just got the "0 post account purge" notification in my email, and just two days ago I started replaying Chrono Cross for the first time in at least SIX YEARS. How's that for coincidences?

It's amazing how many random tiny background things I'm noticing that I completely missed before; like various things on the walls that I never thought to examine, talking to the dog outside the smithy with Poshul and Leena on the first arrival to Termina (I think I always wound up with Kid in my party by the time I went that way). Also it's so much nicer now that I have a way better computer, back when I emulated it before my computer could barely run it.

It's funny how sometimes things just all seem to align themselves at the right time. It's like destiny.

Anyway, welcome back to the community! Have fun playing Chrono Cross again. I remember the first time I played it, my playstation died before I got halfway through the game, so it was years before I came back to it and finished it on an emulator.

This is a little late, but I'm a brand new fan to this series, as I had Chrono Trigger DS recommended to me last year at a GameStop by an older fan who worked there. After wasting 4 whole months going for 100% completion on that game, and finding the 13th ending, I got curious about Chrono Cross. When I went to the Micro Center in Denver, I found that they had untouched copies of Cross for $17.99, and realized that was a ten year old game. I snatched that up immediately, brought it home, and played through it on my PSone. Other than that, I'm a comic artist and writer who has yet to start art school at RMCAD.

Hello, I'm one of those unlucky European lot that didn't get the Chrono games way back when  :(

I ended up playing Trigger by emulation at first then jumping for joy when the DS version was released. I think I would have to say that Cross is easily in my top 5 RPGs, I love it with all my heart. Well that's me, I've been lurking for a while but guessed I should hurry and post something, lol.

Hello, I'm one of those unlucky European lot that didn't get the Chrono games way back when  :(

I ended up playing Trigger by emulation at first then jumping for joy when the DS version was released.

Hi5 buddy.

Hi! I'm Lica. This may sound creepy but... I have been stalking these forums for... um, I don't know like two years or more. I couldn't even remember if I did became a member at some point  I looked through the member list and couldn't find any of my usual nicknames, so I decided to join anyway.

I've being a Chrono Fan since Middle School (that was like 10 years ago, agh!). Though, actually my obsession with Chrono games is fluctuating. Recently, I was helping a friend play Chrono Trigger, and after telling her about the other Chrono games I felt like picking up Radical Dreamers again and getting all the scenarios (The first time I played it I only got the first scenario and stopped playing), that got me totally Chrono-obsessed again.

Right now I'm playing Chrono Cross again too (After much deliberation). I'm giving it a second chance since I have always been one of its detractors (And I'm enjoying it much much more than the first time I played it, I must admit).

Ah, yes. Please pardon my poor english. I have no problem reading it, but writing is still a little difficult for me.

Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Licawolf!  I hope you enjoy it here!  And yay, another fellow female member!

Don't worry about sounding creepy, I think it's totally the norm for people to stalk the forums before joining and that's not creepy at all.  I'm one of those ex-lurkers too.  =)

Your English is great, by the way.  A lot better than a lot of native speakers, actually, who still can't tell the difference between "there", "their", and "they're".

Hey, Sajainta =) Thanks for the welcome

It's good to hear that, I thought it was kind of weird, he... Now we're both ex-lurkers then  :P

Thanks, I guess my big deal with english is that I still need to check the dictionary from time to time, but that won't stop me from enjoying the forums  8)

Have you been mispronouncing it? I always do, but mainly because no one wants to call her Carl with an M.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Kodokami on February 06, 2011, 04:40:47 pm
...Carl with an M.

I thought that is how her named is pronounced. At least, that's how it sounds when Hiro from "Heroes" and the kilwala from "Nūmamonjā" say it.

I thought the way Hiro pronounced it on that clip was "Mar-lee"?

But I haven't seen the clip in over a year, and I don't know any Japanese, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

That's what V said. Re-read his post. He mispronounces it BECAUSE he doesn't want to pronounce it the "right" way: Carl with an M. I won't comment on pronunciation. I've argued endlessly about it before, and gotten nowhere. It always turns in to a bunch of people listing their version phonetically, which is dreadful to read.

However, you two actually do agree on the matter.

Post by: V_Translanka on February 06, 2011, 05:33:35 pm
Yeah, it's supposed to be Marl because she's not supposed to tell Crono her full name (Marldia) but she kinda slipped up and started to say it anyway. I think it's difficult to understand though because there's a pause where you get to name her...and because the English version of her full name is a completely different name altogether...It kinda ruins the running joke in the beginning of the game of Crono being kinda oblivious about it (though I suppose you could play it as being that he just doesn't care, but what's the fun in that?).

Don't you just hate it when they couldn't you the pronounciation the first time in the game?

Greetings all.

My name is Justin Shayne Holliday, I am 23 years old and in the prime period of my youth. I am a Christian and am a very warmhearted individual, I love animals especially my kitties.

My favorite forms of music are Classical, New-Age(soundscapes) and Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda's works.

I am very limited in the games I dabble in. I hate mindlessly violent games. However I enjoy racing sims, Final Fantasies X and lower, and I love the Chrono series. In addition I like most cute light-hearted Mario games and such.

As for TV and movies I hate shows like South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons, etc. I do enjoy educational broadcasting and the like. Movies I enjoy are FFVII ACC, The Others, Book of Eli, Puppet Master 1, Independence Day and others.

Lastly I love to be active. Going to the park and taking a nature walk, riding my bike, swimming and/or working out are all fun. I also love swords(battle ready functional ones) and am going to be collecting many types soon.

Well that is about it for me. It is nice to be here.

Nice to meet everyone!  I just remade my account.  I used to hop around here maybe... 2005-2006 ish?  Anyway, I just got my mitts on a copy of Chrono Cross Ultimania and plan on translating the whole thing for practice...  I know some of the material is needed here so I'll post it, if it's okay....as I do it.  And stuff.  I guess.

Hello, Breakfast! (Milk, Jam and Juice are ingredients in a healthy breakfast for me) Welcome again to the... er, nearly deserted... forums! (Sheesh, this place used to be FUN before, butishouldstoprantingalready) What was your old account, anyway?

Translating the CC Ultimania would be heavenly! I think ZeaLitY would appreciate that too.

Hello,

I am Windmaedchen and I joined just a few minutes ago. Finally really. I have been lurking around here for quite some time, ever since that crazy (fantastic) boyfriend of mine, who you know under the name of "Tushantin" linked me to various posts and threads several times daily since February 2012. This forum and everyone in it have made quite an impression on him in several ways. :D <-- This Nu Smilie looks quite creepy, to be honest. xD

I am glad I finally have a "real" and good reason to join this Forum, too.
I have finished playing the DS version of Chrono Trigger a few weeks ago and quite love it. I am not really a loud voice myself, so I will more read in silence and soak up everything about CT here at the Compendium and this forum. And contribute every now and then to the various discussions that are going on.

I hope to have a good time and am looking forward to getting to know you all better.  :)

Hello Compendium, I'm a fresh member :) found this site looking for scraps of Chrono I could find about the lost 3rd installment. I'm a big jRPG fan and grew up playing them. Loved the genre so much that I decided to become an indie developer. Working  on a project right now which will be my debut RPG. My offering is a still from a scene of my work :) If you think it looks like a familiar scene I will just say your assumptions are probably right.

Hello, Chrono Compendium!

It's great to see that the forums are open again, as last time I checked here they were read only, or something like that. I often use to come by and read the forums about every 6 months or so, but just kinda stopped after a while. this was in the late 2000s.

I'm looking for the "Forums are re-opened" post though, and can't find anything...

Anyway, I've always loved the Chrono Compendium, so I'm glad that discussion can continue on it.

Long live the Chrono Compendium!

Hello! :)
I've visited several times before as a guest, but only on short outbursts (I get these random Chrono moods, even when I haven't played it in a long time). Recently, I've been thinking of doing sort of a "history" of Zeal, so I'll be relying on Chrono Compendium a lot.
Out of other JRPGs, I like the first five FF and the Shin Megami Tensei, and I read and write in my spare time. So much from me  :D

I also just found out about Crimson Echoes.  (I hadn't ever heard about it before.)  :(  Quite sorry to hear that.

Anyway, glad to see this place is alive again! :D

Hi! Sorry for the late presentation

I wander around for a long time, but only now managed to sign up (problems with email).

I'm a die hard fan of the series... My first experience was in 2007 with Chrono Trigger, and now i'm struggling to complete Chrono Cross (lack of time and blah).
I hope i would help ChronoCompendium as much i can, to maintain the flame burning!

Thanks!

Thank you for the welcome!!  :)

I've actually been impressed with how recent some of the posts are. I'll definitely be taking a look around!

I find it's hard to find people as passionate about CT in real life as I am, so I figured this would be a good place for me! I *think* I have all the American versions of CT, SNES, Playstation, Nintendo DS and even the one they put out for the iPhone. I really want to play Crimson eEchoes and Flames of Eternity though. I crave more! I'm still hoping one day they will put out a game that explains the events surrounding the fall of Guardia. I read a bunch of articles on here and I have to admit, my head hurt after awhile. Ha ha ha!!! Anyway, I'm so glad I found this place!!

Post by: Redline57 on January 27, 2018, 01:53:23 am
I recently found a dude who I work with who had the three notes from the organ in the church as his text alert sound. creeped the hell out of me at first. but now were like friends.

PrincessNadia78, you shoulkd play Crimson Echoes its amazing. As for Flames of Eternity, last I heard it was like a modification of CE. Like its tweaks and text edits, not a separate game. Crimson Echoes is, in my opinion, a canon "Chrono Trigger 2." If you can't find it on the net, PM me.

They do still host "Prophet's Guile" on here which is like a short Chrono Trigger game that is before you meet 'the false prophet' whos Magus in disguise, which was cool, its a smaller game by far.

They don't host Crimson Echoes here because of that cease and desist letter they mailed out years ago. I personally can't thank Zeality enough, maybe he doens't post here, I can't find the guy. Its possible he won't reply to anything relating to Crimson Echoes.

I just joined and the coding and editing in this forum is WAY over my head, I'm looking for more fans like me. I can't code but I'd be willing to help with any Chrono Trigger project with whatever skills I have. I'm a master auto technician, a business student and a fanfic writer of yuri and CT, so none of that really helps here.

I just realized this is a welcome forum so I'll say hi formally.

I'm relatively new here, I love Chrono Trigger. I have that 6 foot wide poster of Zeal they sell on ebay, love the game, and my brain has been trying to understand the plot of Crimson Echoes for the last 4 years. I first played it at age 25 but it impacted me so hard that the memory wrote itself on a part of my brain as if i played it as a kid. so the memory of Chrono Trigger was so good for me that it retroactively put it in my brain as if I played it years ago. I'll never forget, at 5:30am, when I first went into Enhasa in Zeal.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Boo the Gentleman Caller on January 28, 2018, 02:06:26 am
I've played Flames of Eternity and Crimson Echoes. Flames of Eternity is pretty much a more complete build of Crimson Echoes, with a few small changes, more late-game content, and changed dialogue.

Both are worth playing.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: PrincessNadia78 on January 30, 2018, 05:08:25 pm
First, I'm sorry it took me a few days to reply. Hubby and I went to the Probowl in Orlando this past weekend. It was fun, except for getting poured on. LOL However I was excited that on the 2 hour trip to Orlando he had no problem nerding out with me to CT and CC music. :)

I'm actually dying to play both. I only have a Mac so I don't think I can play them online however I did find some Etsy shops where you can buy them in a cartridge! I was planning on buying them once I have my stuff down here in Florida from Wisconsin.

I have the CT theme as my ringtone and I have the "Item Recieved" sound as my text tone. I love it!

Was anyone else as devastated as I was when you found out about the fall of Guardia only 5 years after the events in CT? I was so, so sad! I just realized recently that when I started playing CT I was the same age that Crono, Lucca and Marle were when the game came out. I feel old now. LOL
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Mauron on January 30, 2018, 05:24:32 pm
Play online should work with any recent enough browser, whatever the operating system. If not, the old emulator and patched ROM method works. SNES9x has a Mac build available.

Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: PrincessNadia78 on January 30, 2018, 05:49:47 pm
Ok, I will have to take a look into that! I'm pretty techy, but I don't have much experience with emulators. If I have questions I'll be sire to ask. Thank you!!
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!

Patching will probably be the hardest part, if you need to do that.

I'm not a fan of reproduction carts, since they require the destruction of a compatible existing cart (Not necessarily the original game), and all profit goes to the cart builder, not the hacker/translator. Most hackers and translators don't really want to profit from their work, but they don't really like other people profiting either.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Fauntleroy on January 30, 2018, 11:27:45 pm
I encountered a guy a while back who makes repro carts for free. He made some of my Phantasy Star II hack and sent me one as a thank you.

That kind of thing I can get behind, but I would not be comfortable with someone selling my hacking work, no matter the situation.
Title: Re: Welcome, welcome!
Post by: Redline57 on January 31, 2018, 01:44:51 am
You don't need to 'patch', Crimson Echoes as a rom is on the net, I don't know what the policy on this forum is due to that letter, but I and my friends all have copies, and a simple search will pull it up on the internet.

I guess I wasn't sad about the fall of Guardia. I sort of expected it, given Chrono Cross, and I had gone through Radical Dreamers, so I knew about Lucca's fate and  her orphanage and all.

Omg.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I recently started Chrono Trigger again yesterday and I just had to visit the Chrono Compendium this time I actually listened to myself and decided to register, & sign-up for the forums! I've been visiting your site for ages.

I'm currently on a small backlog quest and Chrono Trigger is one RPG that I just hadn't played in ages it's been so long I forgotten every little thing about everything.

Oh. I've always considered Chrono Trigger a big game. I've always wanted to join the community of fans. Is there anywhere I can post my thoughts or impressions while playing the game for the first time in a long while? I don't want to mess anything up, what you all have going on here?

Hi, Kodokami and Mauron!

I'm actually so excited to be here I've always been in awe of Chrono Trigger and I've been a bit skittish to join the forum, just because I'm so busy with in-game stuff and writing a lot offline about it. What I've learned is it's super duper helpful if I just talk to other people about it online!

I'm just super skittish about posting sometimes but I won't be scared off I promise.

Ok I'll try to check-out that thread. Thanks! :)

Ever since I realized my backlog I decided to do something about it so I guess I am here now! Again, thanks for the warm welcome!

'Sup, I'm Katie and I'm a big dork who spends too much time online. Also I'm currently a college sophomore majoring in illustration! I'd like to draw comics and graphic novels someday.

Welcome tot he party, Katie! Glad to have a new Chrono fan, and one who is comfortable with old school forums! Haha. We have a Discord, too, if you're interested. Just do a search for "Chrono Compendium" on Discord.

What's your favorite Chrono game and why? Have you done any Chrono art with your skills?!

Again, welcome to our little corner of the internet. We're glad you're here!
