Mine would be that I had to make 5 attempts at the Hydra on my first playthrough...I didn't full grasp the concept of not having two people heal and one attack, so consequently, I died many a time.
Yours?
-
It took me 2 days to beat Garai :(
-
That's not too bad...see, Garai gets registration as one of the "commonly accepted" bosses that are difficult. The Hydra is listed as "ROFLZ NUB" bosses, so I must hang my head in shame and pray to my ancestors for forgiveness, lest I get "PWNED LOLZ" by GameFaqs.
-
Does this count?
I left my room when I was fight The first Nizbel and forgot to pause the game, when I got back..... I was dead. >_>
If not... I will work my brain into remembering one. >_>
-
Dying 50,000 times against the Red and Black Dragon each and when you finally understand how to win, you file gets corupted! :x
-
Oh yeah, that reminds me.
Missing the Song of Marbule songquest...twice in a row. Another playthrough without rainbow equipment...
-
Never beating the game and know everything about the game. :x
-
If you're having that much trouble with file corruption, set up a PSX emulator and play it there. It beats complaining that you never got to finish the game, and it's not all that hard to do once you have some free time.
-
MY dad doesn't want me to ruin his new computer, which is the only one that has the right dll files. :x
-
My first play though, I had my brother build up my party, and I did all the important parts. Yeah, so lazy its imbarassing.
-
1.) Not knowing what the heck 'Heal' does in Chrono Trigger until well after being done the game. I suppose status effects never bothered me that much...
2.) Using an emulator with save-states, but consequentially not being foresighted enough to save in the proper place. In other words, I saved in the middle of the fight against MasaMune, was so ill-prepared winning was essentially impossible, and had to revert to a save an hour or two back.
3.) Doing a similar thing for Crono's death. That set me back a few hours, I can tell you that much!
4.) Reading the weird ending speech by Kid in Chrono Cross.
5.) And finally, the worst... spending no less than five hours trying to win the blasted roulette game on the Zelbess, only to find out that it is impossible to win.

lol that got me too
-
I played for like twenty minutes before I moved on.
-
I try to get to the points I need to get a rainbow shell.... I didn't ever got that enough points.... I almost did get enough points. >_>
....Eh, I think I try it like forty or so times and then left it alone. >_>
-
Bleh...having to do that game to get a rainbow shell is going to drive me nuts. I hate doing these minigames to get good stuff (I.e fighting through the fun, yet at times annoying battle square in FF7 to get Omnislash, W-summon etc.)
-
After beating Chrono Cross, still owning it. Very embarrasing.

Easy way to win.
have the thing spin. Pause it. If the needles pointing south west, hold down the x button, and then unpause it. You're golden from there.
Edit: Cool, 555 posts. :o
-
I never had problems with any fight in Cross (in fact, there wasn't any enemy that took more than half an hour).
But, a puzzle in Trigger... When you are in the Arris Dome... In front of the control panel, you have to hold R+L and then press A. Ha! I couldn't go further, for a month! Why? Because I had to set turbo keys in the emulator, otherwise the contol panel didn't work.
-
My most embarassing moment in CT.. Losing to Yakra, and later on the first boss in 2300 A.D.
-
Yakra...the very first boss ?
-
The very same, keep in mind I lost to most of the bosses at least once since I was five back then. The Hydra also gave me some problems, as well as the Black and Sky Dragons in Chrono Cross
-
In CC, one of my most embarassing moments was when Dark Serge defeated me with a few Elements (you see, I had Serge, Steena and Starky). But then, with the same party, I defeated him with only Starky alive (15 HP).
-
Dark Serge was difficult...I beat him by having a fantastic stroke of luck and predicting all his elements via traps...the only ones that got through were his own personal techs and his physical attacks.
-
Actually, Yakra defeated me heaps, and next to Mother Brain was probably one of the hardest bosses...for me
-
The first boss will always defeat you if you are not prepared, on your first runthough.
-
this is my thrid run through CC and im still trying to get the real ending, untill know i didnt know you had to use the element order thing, its getting vary annoying especially sense i have the habbit of overwritting my save games, i didnt realise that the continue+ thing wouldnt work on games saved after the credits :(
-
Well...
You know how you fought those bosses in Terra Tower?
Just that black is before white. o.o
I think. o.o

i know, i read the FAQs a few times during the game, but the one i read didnt mention anything about needing to be in a specific order... im using a better faq now

What? Are you saying that the first boss in Chrono Cross will defeat me if I don't stock up on elements or something... :? ?
Normally the first bosses are there to ease you into the swing of the game, not a test of your skills.
-

Well, maybe, if you took to much damage during round 1.
-
It took me forever to beat the Pentapus... -_-"
That, and fighting my way through Ozzie, Slash, and Flea in Magus's Lair, only to be wiped out by a RolyBomber. That sucked.

Heh. That is too bad. I always avoided those stupid things.
-
For me, it was the first real fight vs the 3 blue imps...I was kicking Gatos aßß until i had 1 hp(wanted to gain techs and levels and stuff), i went on with the game and...these imps pwnd me...
Another embrassing moment is...I don't get CC working
-
For me It was not realizing what the Power Meal did in CT, I thought the description "Heals ?" meant that the effect was unknown.
Another one I hope somebody else has done was to go all the way through CC and never knowing about double techs(Didn't read the manual, I was so excited when I bought it, I didn't bother reading it till after i beat it.)And seeing as there are so few....
-
Um...what *does* the power meal do? Er, I never found that out myself  .
I knew there *were* double techs, but I didn't use them til my second playthrough, so I'm sort of on the same page with you >_>.
-
Oh yeah it heals "?" status, ya know when your techs are locked. But coudn't you just use a heal to get rid of that? Dunno :? dont remember ever getting my techs locked except for the battles with rubble and the boss orb. And when that happens u cant use item either.
-
Doesn't it randomly heal HP, MP or both?
-
lol Like I said I dunno what It does, I was just to lazy or didn't care to use it. I just assumed since the description was "Heals ?" I thought it meant tech lock since u get a ? over ur head.
-
i, too, died when facing yakra the first time i ever played the game .. but that was really only because i wasn't properly prepared for anything, and the concept of healing my members had been pushed to the side in my mind for some reason.
oh, and when you had to play that stupid roulette game with fargo for the first time before you could see the sage? i thought you WERE supposed to win at that point, so i spent 3 hours of my life trying to beat him--i finally checked gamefaqs for any "hints", but instead found that you ARE required to lose, and do something else, before moving on in the game. i felt like a complete dolt. :-[
-
Another one was facing Magus, first battle the very first time I played CT, I was kinda ignorant about save points being before bosses sometimes and I just kept going on my merry way when i realized I hadnt saved it or healed properly when I entered the battle.lol He wiped me out with geyser on the first round. My friend was watching so i have to say that was pretty embarrasing.
-
Getting stuck on Gairia for like a week, stopped playing. Then one day started playing again and took him out on the first try. Then i go into the dead sea and get stuck on Miguel. As said before I stopped playing, then one day re-arranged my elelments and party and took him down with ease. After I got the Dragon plates the game got extremely easy.
In CT losing to the thing in Arris Dome... the robot thing.... Losing to Yarka and forgetting to heal. Beating the game on an emulator then not being able to do New Game+ (Oddly I've done it before).
-

I'm pretty sure thats what it does, but I've only used one once...

Yeah you gotta love those battles and events that seem like you gotta beat them but can't. I remember in Radiata Stories, theres a battle that seems possible to win, and I had used almost every item in my inventory to stay alive, just to find out you have to lose. The very first battle in the game is the same way. :?
-
Hmm embarrasing moments eh? Ahh calling Chrono Trigger a failed attempt at a decent game and then actually playing it and becoming a very big fan of it. Now I own the original cartridge, Chrono Cross, rom of Radical Dreamers, and tons of CT and CC stuff.
-
all of them are in my first playthought
1.trying to beat fargo in the roulete game untill after some hours/days i dont remember realized the cat trick.
2.how to get to that green dragon.lol it was just frustating
3.one word:MIGUEL.died like 3-4 times untill i realized i had diminish in my inventory.won him with that my ps1 stucked before i could save....load realize i dont have diminish and beat him in one of the hardest bosses in any video game.thought in my second or later playthouths i swear he is just 2-3 hits away to die for my mighty sprectral swallow!har har har
chrono trigger:
1.in one of my multiple times of playing the game(in my first 3)i realise i dont have cronos clone while i could.........
2.i had my best equipment in crono and i lost it
3.i dont remember another ct but if i i will post it here
-
sorry i had to post this post i am going to delete it later
-
Losing to the dragon tank for the first time in my third playthrough of the game >.>
-
Accidentally saving in the battle with The mother brain, unprepared and with the wrong characters i wanted. Couldn't win and had to start the miniquest over >.<

That reminds me once in the game Zelda: Link's Awakening (that the title? Anyways, the first GB Zelda game.) Where in the second dungeon, if you use your keys to get the compass + dungeon map, you couldn't proceed through the rest of the game, as there *were* no more keys. Being 8 years old, that rather annoyed me >_>.

Doing the runna'round Spikko's room about fifteen times and nearly smacking my SNES in the belief it wasn't working, then realizing I'd mixed up clockwise and counter-clockwise. >_____<

i kid you not i screwed up there too, i was helping my girlfriend with the game and i kept going in the wrong direction
-
I lost to Guardian several times my first play-through... I had gotten the Berserker from the Sewer, then put it on Crono. I fought the gaurdian with that setup about ten times before I noticed that his Delta Storm was a counter-attack...
Or there was Giga Gaia... Had Luminaire, Flare, AND Shock, and I still died 4-5 times...
-
remember the door in the dome with the password... well i couldn't get it open. I was positive controller broke till about 6 monthes later (wow... those were painful monthes....) I realized I had messed up the order.
Then with Speekio you were either supposed to run or walk, but I did opposite... wow that sucked.
