Have you played Radical Dreamers? Thoughts?
-
Yes, it's an imaginative and great game!
I think Radical Dreamers is very much underrated. I've touched on this elsewhere on the Compendium; people who dismiss it as a simple text adventure have forgotten their imaginations. It's a very well-constructed game, with outstanding music and ambiance, believable characters, and a wonderfully rich understatement--which is precisely why it is so important to bring your own imagination to the table. Radical Dreamers and its seven scenarios touch on many moods and are quite simply an inspiration. For its sheer lack of length, I couldn't rank it above Chrono Trigger, but I'm not sure if I would place it above or below Chrono Cross.

Nope, but I wish to someday...
-
Yeah. I have. Very different than Chrono Cross (in which you are not with Magil, there humans instead of skeletons, and other fun stuff).
Thumbs down for not being translated. Thumbs up because it was interesting.

I have. It was for an hour or so and i forgot to save. It seemed alright. But i wouldent have thought it had anything to do with CT had it not have been for magus' sprite (well that and prior out of game knowledge) I liked the fact that serge spoke.
I always was under the impression that the kid in the RD dimension is the same as in CC thats why she appears to know serge. But thats been proven false.
The game was ok from what i saw not very fun i thought.

I really liked it. Since it fixed up certain problems and raised new links with the other 2 games. RD is almost cannon. Well atleast it has the same past, simply that by 1020AD, Kid, Lynx, are dfferent people from CC.
-
I didn't think it was all that great. Mainly because it was a text-based game.
-
I have! :P
It was only a matter of time before I stumbled onto this thread!
The game itself is very interesting and cool. Besides, the music is WAY cool. (Still on top 10 favorites list of OSTs)
Peace Out!

Haven't played it yet, but keep meaning to.
-
played it, stopped sometime soon after getting through the pirahna room. Never picked it up again, although I intend to, only because its "part" of the Chrono series. Not really interested in the game itself.
-
I almost beat it i got to the part where you fight goblins and stuff in the frozen flame room. I think its a bit different compared to any game ive played. More of a dark and gloomy side to it then ct. Good music though.

No I haven't but I've been busy. When I do I'll try to tell you guys.
-
Fun, I just had a hard time remembering the layout and where I was at times :P

Yes, it's an imaginative and great game!
Pros
It's a part of the legacy that is Chrono.
Well developed characters.
Interesting story.
Easy-to-use gameplay.
Humor in keeping w/Chrono Trigger.
Awesome, moody, creepy, ambient tracks from Mitsuda.
New Game+ like feature allows you to play through the game in different ways (in other universes/timelines/dimensions? whatever) to see completely unique scenarios.
RD Serge>CC Serge (not to mention many of the other CC characters >_>)...x10 ^_^
Solid fan translation. Let's give props to Demiforce yet again, shall we?
Cons
Not for the reading-impared.
Not for the graphicly-whored.
Pretty much only ambient tracks from Mitsuda.
Short like a smoking Umpa Loompa. You're gonna get in around, maybe 15-20 hours tops...that's WITH most of the other scenarios (Kid & the Sunflower has several variation endings in and of itself)
No official NA release? WTF?
Is it or isn't it canon? The debate rages on...
Overall, it's a great game and truely awesome for what it is: a nice little text RPG w/great music, good characters, engaging story...and, well, it's part Chrono dammit! What more do you need? A friggin seal of authenticity? Whatever...

Ooh! Where can I buy this Seal of Authenticity?!
A word on the soundtrack, if I may. I am singularly astonished by it, and by what it manages to accomplish with such an utterly minimalist approach. Pound for pound, it is best soundtrack in the series, although in overall weight it gets dwarfed by the other two. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the soundtrack is very much underrated, and, in fact, is nothing short of genius. Without the music, Radical Dreamers would be a shadow of itself. Oftentimes do I find myself listening to some of those tracks, looped, for hours on end. If ever there was any doubt as to Mr. Mitsuda's brilliance, this soundtrack puts that doubt to bed with extra covers.

You got that right!
That's why I dumped them (from the .spc) with VBR 720 ^^;
Best music I have on this hard drive!
And the remixes are out. of. this. world.
I wish people would remix RD's music more :/

I will play this when I have abetter grasp of Chrono Cross. I don't want to get the two mixed up storywise, then i'd be all confuzzled and no one likes that.
-
Yes I played. And yes it's kickass. Better than Chrono Cross.
Gotta love the soundtrack too. <3

The max I can say is that I enjoyed it to some degree, since I didn`t even beat the game yet...
