Title: CT OVA: Poyozo or Kilwala?
Post by: cdreed3000 on May 12, 2016, 12:22:27 am
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but on this page

https://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Chrono_Trigger_OAV.html

it says the little white furry guy is a Poyozo. Is this true? I've always thought it was a Kilwala. It is a festival for monsters after all, and we never see a Poyozo doll even move. I also think it looks more like a Kilwala.

I think "Nuumamonja" is a combination of their names, Nuu and Mamo. Not sure what the "nja" means, but Nuu is of course Nu and Mamo is the Japanese name for the creature we know as Kilwala.

I could be totally wrong about this; I don't speak Japanese.

Yeah I thought the same as well, but never looked up the Japanese name for Kilwala. Imma look it up now.

Yeah, Kilwalas are called マモ, which is Mamo!

based on the fur distribution and pointy ears, I would identify that as a Kilwala.

Yeah, there is some appearance discrepancy due to in-game sprite versus drawn picture I'd say... but even then, it does look more like a Kilwala to me even if the Poyozo were also actual creatures than just dolls.

Not sure what the "nja" means
It is a very odd way they name a group.
I don't know what exactly it means, it could be a mis-spell(depends) of the English suffix -nger.
The earliest example I can find is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himitsu_Sentai_Gorenger
In that case, it stands for ranger.

I've always assumed she was a Kilwala (and a girl but, I could be wrong). O.O But the Poyozo Dolls and Kilwala's look alike. Maybe a Poyozo is a doll OF a Kilwala?

I think the little white creature with the Nu is named Mamo in the OVA itself, right? Which means Kilwala? Also her ears are pointed like a Kilwala rather than down like the Poyozo so i'm leaning towards Kilwala.
