This thread is for those tidbits of thought that are utterly non-sequitur and possibly outright surreal when taken as they occur. Contributions to the narrative should be placed in quotes or otherwise formatted to distinguish them from stand-alone stand-alone thoughts. Bonus points for true musings!

"I suppose I realised the futility of getting insulted over mudslinging and teasing when I got detentions for referencing Michael Jackson in the presence of a particular teacher..."
Status: True.

ZeaLitY was 'supposed to' reply straight after me, which probably would have made things clearer and got this off to a better start.
For clarity, the narrative so far would roughly be:
"I suppose I realised the futility of getting insulted over mudslinging and teasing when I got detentions for referencing Michael Jackson in the presence of a particular teacher...
"Hi; I'm Kilfer.""

Oh, oops. Didn't seem cohesive.
"I had only brought up his creepy white skin, but that was enough. Before I could even talk about the children, Mr. Burrows condemned me to a shameful walk down the hall. Along the way I saw Mr. Kyle, the school janitor, staring intently at a loose bolt in his hands. You don't touch Mr. Kyle's bolt. Or he'll kill you. With a knife. He smiled as I went by."

"Mr. A had been there for over a quarter of a century. He delighted in variously carrying around and brandishing a screwdriver and a knife, and presumably other improvised offensive weapons--he mentioned petrol bombs once, for instance. His nickname--which was presumably as old as his tenure--was Roy-boy, from his forename. I had never seen anyone call him that to his face."
"Shock--then amusement--played across my face as I was confronted by the wholly unprecedented sight of Mr. A dressed up in a suit. Even if he had not been wearing his gym class trainers, I suspect that most people would have been able to tell that this was not a man accustomed to shirt and tie."
