What I'm Doing Now:  I am currently going through and adding animation and sound effects to the conversation.....a horribly tedious task due to lack of documentation but it makes the game alot more enjoyable.

Beta---You can play through it.  Main skeletons finished, exits, Memory, etc
Clean Up--Map looks good, animations, sound, music, Explore Mode offs,  etc.

For all of these I'm gunna need people to do text/Maps if your interested please tell me

I'm guessing Magus doesn't battle Dalton during the confrontation at the commons? It would really help if you gave me a complete plot outline to work with here.

Quote
The confrontation with Dalton at Commons (kills old man)

D - "Out of my way old man, I have a date with immortality!"
OM - "I can't let you do that. These people need that square to survive!"
D - "Have it your way then!"

*Kills Old Man with fireball attack*

D - "Idiot. This is what happens to those who oppose King Dalton!"

Quote
The confrontation with Dalton at Beast Forest (he steals Amplifier)

D - "... The Prophet?"
M - "Surpirsed Dalton?
D - What are you doing here?
M - I made a mistake the last time I left this time period. I left you alive. I'm here to correct that.
D - How dare you!. You will show me the proper respect I deserve!
*Summons Golem and disappears*

Sorry, Magus doesn't battle Dalton at commons,  but he is there so the "prophet" part at beast forest won't really be able to work.

I do plan on him battling Dalton at the end of my version of Zeal Dungeon so i'll need pre and post fight (post fight being Dalton talking after he has defeated Magus)

I'm proposing Dalton has 2 forms when you battle him at the end of Zeal dungeon:
1.) his weak, normal form
2.) Suped up version thanks to healing cube (Perhaps which is really some form of Dreamstone?)

Pre-Fight:
D - Hmm, so you managed to defeat my Golems? Fine, lets see how you deal with this!
*Summons Golem Boss*

*After Golem Boss loses*
D - How dare you! You insolent cretin! I will destroy you for this embarrassment. I'll...
M - Are you finished yet?
D - Why you...
M - Quiet! Can't you hear it?
D - Hear what?
M - The sound of the reaper!
*Battle begins*

*Defeats Form 1 Dalton*
You are powerful indeed Prophet, to defeat my Golem Boss. You'll be the perfect person to test my newfound power. Behold the might of the Immortal King Dalton!

*Magus Loses*
Dalton stands over Magus. laughing, as the screen fades to black.

*Magus wins*
Dalton, with his last breath: "No, not like this. My Queen!"

Ew.

That sounds so not-Dalton. <_<

Heh. Yeah, I just read it over. It was pretty weak wasn't it?

It's hard to write "cocky but pathetic" without going over the top.

Ah, but he is over the top.
I'd suggest something, but in this regard I'm wholly useless. Utter seriousness, that I can do - but comedic fools? I'm lost.

By the way, just what IS the progress of CE? I mean, the posts on this thread are few and far between, and this already is sort of a shadowed portion of the forums. Are people working on it, and discussing it, apart from this? Is it still being very actively worked on, just not discussed much here? That's the impression I'm getting, but I'm probably wrong...

To be quite honest, I don't have a clue right now. Magus' story is indeed being worked on, I've tested the beta myself. As for the main chunk of CE, your guess is as good as mine.

I'll try to revise it.

*After Golem Boss loses*
D - You little brat! Your time is up, you cre-
M - Are you finished?
D - Wha? Why you...
M - There's a heaviness in the air...
D - What?
M - A shade of blood!
*Battle begins*

*Defeats Form 1 Dalton*

Wait, that's right...we needed to have a Dalton section.  That could easily be the Magus sidequest.

I shall try my hand at this over the weekend.  Now that I'm on break, we're going to finish this story, so help me Force.

Oh, please do consider what I said in the other thread about Janus, and how he might be at the very end, and how that might be portrayed.

Nicely done Zeality. I'm glad you changed Dalton's final words, they fit much better than my orignial line.

jsondag sent me his beta Magus Quest. Either jsondag or myself can send it to you all if you're interested.

I was working on it and then got complaints about it not following the story....

So I opted to wait till the story is finished, which will also give TF 2.0 a chance to catch up.

I like it, but I doubt Dalton is going to use the word "indeed."

When in Rome, as they say...

Dalton is a jackass.

Therefore, to totally get the Dalton feel, one must act like a jackass, no?

All text will be done by people whose name on these boards is not jsondag2, however I'm not going to let it slow me down, it'll be easy enough to change once were to that point.  I want to point out that the top post of this thread does indeed change.  And with that Handy dandy export feature it's easy enough for people to make some maps.  Of note is the Singing Mountain Map and the new 65,000,000,000 Overworld.  Stuff for regular citizens to say is always nice, I seriously do take note of people suggestions.  We need stuff for Guardia and Porrean citizens to say after Porre attacks Zenan Bridge.

Chickenlump has been kind enough to say that he's going to go through and clean up 1 or 2 locations. Once I finish Chronopolis I'll work on cleaning up myself.  I'm slightly worried about 65,000,000,000.

Also I'm not sure on what it takes to change enemy sprites.  I'd like the Dragon Tank to look like a real tank, and then I think it'd be cool even to do something small like changing the enemies colors, maybe make them all a shade or two darker and more intimidating.

We'll have to decompress the graphics, edit them, and recompress. The hard part is finding the graphics themselves; I have no experience in using pointers to find things, but I'm sure good inspection by a real rom hacker can deduce where the game is pulling the Dragon Tank's graphics from.

When we copy the exported data over to a new rom, we'll just leave 65000000 B.C. behind. The new rom's 65kk B.C. will be fine.
