Okies, first I want to start off by giving a big hi to everyone...
HI!!!! ^-^
okies, so i'm making a kind of sequel to Chrono Cross, based on a fanfiction i'm writing. i've just started where Kid finds Serge, this in turn upsets Leena, and it's currently a lot of fun. however.... I suck at animations..
I'm looking for a group of people who have knowlege with RPG maker 2003 and can make working sprites, and battle animations and such. and possibly someone to help with the maps. So basically, everyone will be working in a team effort to create all the little parts, while i'm working on a story line, and how its going to flow. Along with putting everything together at the very end.
Everyone will be credited, and hopefully square enix won't shut us down... and if they try then we.....

Sounds like you've got a heck of a project on your hands. Skilled help is difficult to come by, mostly because everyone's got their own projects going on; but spriting is an especially rare skill to begin with. I'd recommend getting your storyline whipped up and refined first, and if it hits just the right chords, the project may attract others. At the very least, you could release the resulting fanfic.
Also, keep in mind that options for fanworks are expanding as of late, especially in the realm of 3D. Since you're dealing with Chrono Cross characters, you'll soon have many of the necessary models at your fingertips. Can RPGMaker do 3D yet? If not, once we get the fieldscript figured out you might be able to hack the CC game image to whip up a sample scene from your planned scenario in time for the next Dream Splash!, which is slated to focus on El Nido. That all depends on how quickly we figure the fieldscript out, of course. Just food for thought.

yeah, if i can get serge and kid battle animations, i'll be set for now.
now that i've actually finished the game. the beginning of my story doesn't really happen like it should, but who cares right? for all we know, before my game (fanfiction) takes place, they killed lavos and schala and didn't use the chrono cross, resulting in the dimensions never being unified. (which would be better in my opinion. serge and kid would still be together right?
i can modify my serge (walking) sprite, to make dark serge (for an upcoming epic battle of 2D proportion) :P

I miiiiiiiiight be able to make some battle animations for you for Kid and Serge though i'm not that skilled i've been messing with rpg maker 2003 for a year now. My sprites arent that great but i'll let you be the judge:

thats a Schala and Kid I sprited for the rpg maker xp cuz I was bored but that represents my skill me thinks. . .

TheMage, that is excellent work. Is Schala's head from her Chrono Trigger sprite? Kid looks a bit more natural to me, but it may be an optical illusion due to her braid that makes her head look larger than Schala's.

Quite nice, Mage. I don't have a program available on this computer to get a close look, but it appears that Kid is taller than Schala. You might want to cut a pixel or two's height from her legs and shorts.
... you know, I never really realized that Kid wears shoes. Nice job on those.
Faust, it isn't so much that spriting skills are rare, just that spriting is so time consuming that few people employ their skills. A decently skilled amateur will probably take a good day or two to create just one sprite (if it is the first in a sheet), then still about 3 or 6 hours for the first sprite of a particular pose (as in, the first standing/walking sprite, the first sleeping sprite, etc), and even then another 4ish hours to complete the entire motions of that pose (possibly more or less, depending on the complexity). A single character sheet (if made from scratch) can represent months of free time. Few people have that sort of free time or the interest of taking a single character sheet to completion.
Kid Serge, I'd recommend also trying to become a presence on a fan site. If people recognize your screen name, respect you, and know that you won’t give up on the project in a few months (or a few days), they are more likely to devote themselves to your project.

Oh I cheated on the Schala sprite, I did use her head from her Chrono Trigger sprite forgetting to make it bigger or even different, and I failed to check to see if she was the same height as Kid, I got lazy on her, its only now that you pointed it out I noticed it. lol Thanks glad you likes, yeah I looked at a picture of her that someone drew on deviant art and in the picture she had shoes but...now that I think about it does she? lol :mrgreen:

She most certainly does. You can check her picture in the character section of the compendium encyclopedia to be sure if they are designed the correct way.
I also had to stop and think for a minute because I do see fan art of her with no shoes or sandals, but then I remembered the shoes form the video where she gets stabbed, and checked the compendium to verify.
The sprite of Kid is very well done. If you want to be strictly true to her Chrono Cross model she needs the bandages in her lower leg and the sheath for her dagger attached to the front of her skirt. There are also some white markings on her arms, but those may be too hard to do with the current length of the sprite.
In any case those are being picky, and things most people would probably not notice if they were playing the game. Great job!

Cool ^_^ if you already have walking sprites for Kid and Serge or even dark serge I can start the battle animations if you'd like :mrgreen:
If you don't I could try and make some for you. :)

When I get the time I might re-make the kid sprite for the sheath for her dagger and other such small details just because i'm picky, might even give her that amulet she wears.

i have walking animations, they suck tho, but i don't really need them now. i would like battle animations first. then possibly walking animations later if you don't mind.

Dunno, I just like Masa and Mune they make me laugh, :) I'm almost done with Kid, haven't started on Serge yet i'll load up some pics when I have more time. heh, stupid internet.

So my PC died and all my work was destroyed :x
but i'm not giving up, I re did Kid so she looked more Chrono Triggerish, if you like the way she looks i'll restart on the animations and have it for you soon, then Serge :mrgreen:

Alright Kid is basically done, the walking graphics, fighting, etc, though the fighting graphics are still a little bit glitchy I need to add some finishing touches to them, but here's walking sprites, kid laughing, kid winking, and her blowing kisses, oh and drinking all ready to be slapped in RPG Maker.
The back of her head bugs me and the walking left and right... I might fix those too unless i'm being really OCD, but I thought i'd slap this up there to show you that I am working on it- really slowly, but i'm working on it!
