:D sweet!
-
that reminds me of me at noon lol
-
Can't wait til tomorrow...
-
Just to point out, you can give Characters 6 letter names in the USA version
-
What languages does the US version have?
-
English.. proably spanish and french, no japanese though.
-
...I just arrived in 600 AD. ;)
-
My folks decided to get it for me for X-Mas
-
My folks decided to get it for me for X-Mas
Hey, at least you will get it. I, on the other hand... not.
-
I got it! And it came with a poster AND a free CD with two orchestrated tracks...
DROOLING.
And I got my wife Harvest Moon so she doesn't feel left out. :D
-
I still have to wait until tomorrow. I sure hope that there will be a poster and a free CD with it as I will be the very first person to visit the local video game store tomorrow. :)
-
My folks decided to get it for me for X-Mas
Hey, at least you will get it. I, on the other hand... not.
Ah, don't feel bad, Sarge, just get the ROM.

No worry, already got it.

I get tomorrow too. I cannot wait :)

Wish I could get mine now. I'd probably be around the Future or so by now.

I should get my Japanese copy today too. :D Is there a poster included, Pyt?
-
Nah, no poster. >: The bonus CD was with it, though (since I pre-ordered it on play-asia).
-
To topic creator. Can you please take a clear picture of the back so we can read it.
-
sorry, i don't have anything but a webcam, so i can't take a clear picutre of the back, but i can tell you what it says.
The RPG of the Ages Returns.
When a newly developed teleportation device malfunctions, young Crono must journey though time to rescue a mysterious girl from an intricate web of past and present perils. Enhance with dual-screen presentation, stylus controls, and a host of great new features, the classic tale trancends time once again!
Under picture 1 - Bonus include brand-new dungeons and a multiplayer arena!
Under picture 2 - Timeless gameplay feels fresher than ever before!
-
What are the pictures? J/W
-
a battle with the black tyrano, and a picture of the epoch
-
Haven't got mine yet.
Is the US version's translation/script exactly the same as the Japanese version?
Starting to wonder if I should just import the original...

I was told of a new translation, so I doubt it.

As far as I know, the English text is exactly the same in both versions! Therefore I imported the Japanese version.

Sorry, but I'll need some proof before I believe that.
-
the japanese version does have english text, but unlike the USA version, you can't name Crono, Chrono.

Has that been confirmed yet? As I previously stated, in Chrono Cross you can't give Serge typically any name you want, specifically Crono or Chrono. I'd like a definite Yes or No answer whether you can actually name Crono "Chrono" or not in the USA version.
As for the script, why would that be different in the USA version? I doubt they would do a different translation just for the USA version.
-
The DS version has a retranslated English script compared to the SNES/PSX version. It would be the same English script if compared between Japanese and American DS version.
-
To clear this up, I'll get the USA rom and put it on my DS myself to determine this now. Whether or not you can give Chrono his appropiate name, that is.
-
Now you've got me curious. =D What two songs come with the CD?
-
Yeah, you can name Chrono "Chrono". Finally we can name him Chrono. Unfortunately I don't feel like playing through it all again just for the name change. Aside from that, the USA rom also has the goddamned copyright protection, and it needs a different code then the japanese version to unlock it. The english script is the same, as expected. Also, on my rom was no option whatsoever at all to change to another language. English only.
-
Yep for those who have the USA version of the game can only play in English. I wonder why they decided to remove the option to play the in Japanese if you really wanted to.

Maybe you have to hold down a certain button. That's how you got Japanese vocals (still English text) in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
DANCING LAVOS FOR THE FUCKING WIN!!!
-
So... I just got to the End of Time in my copy. The nostalgia of playing this game is awesome.
And I love the Arena of Ages... My guy is beastly. I'm at 20 wins. But I have the feeling it's not that hard to lose...
-
Well I removed the copyright protection, seems those clever guys already made a patch. Anyway, can't find any interesting changes. But it seems that if your DS language is french, Chrono Trigger (U) will be french as well. Tested and confirmed. However, any other language you set your DS to, including japanese, will just result in CT being english.

What? That sux! :(
-
Yeah, you can name Chrono "Chrono".
Hot dang!
Hmm...... I could leave his name in Kana... but the word is originally English to begin with... oh the dilemma!
Guess I'll just get the US one.
Thanks for the confirmation.

That's right.
Is seems that there are some differences between CTDS JP and US.
In the US version you don't have the option to change the language in the settings menue.

That is quite odd do they think we wouldn't like an option to switch it into Japanese if we wanted to? After all it took extra work to remove it so I wonder why they bothered to do that in the first place.

One can only guess.

Fun little bit about the Japanese copy that I noticed.
I left Crono's name in katakana, and left everyone elses' names in English (Playing the game in English). But Ayla still calls him クロ.
Random, but just thought I'd mention it. Didn't expect the English option to include that. Haha.

Huh, weird. Try it out with all the characters in katakana. See what that does.

I don't think it will make a difference. Crono, after all, is the only one Ayla calls different in Japanese.

I've got my copy now.

Can't get mine til Christmas... I'm in heavy debt...

Yes parents never do anything for us, right?
Schala: sorry to hear that. :/ I was broke when the game came out, but I have an ass-ton of NES games... or should say "had". traded them in for it the day it came out. ^^ Not to worry, it was minor stuff. And Kirby's Adventure (A necessary sacrifice. every boost in dough helps, besides the game bores me anyway... sorry Maggiekarp x.x) But, it was worth it, at least for the new ending and just having the game portable. Some day, Magus... some day you'll succeed...
-
Same prob different reason. Stupid parents.
While elsewhere, millions are starving...
-
Take this seed, see what Doan says in the new translation, I can't be bothered to figure it out myself. I'm an American!
-
Nothing says a final battle better than a depressing trip down memory lane during the dark moments of my life. What can you do stuck in a bubble of pure energy on top of a porccupine for 13,000 years? Nothing!

After millions of years there's bound to be at least Tetris or Bust-a-Move in that thing.

Got that right.
While elsewhere, millions are starving...
Dude, don't even THINK of going there.
-
No offense buddy, but it's incredibly childish to not only complain about your parents here, but to also reply to someone elses' problem (Debt), as if to say yours was as bad or worse.
Just saying.
-

Actually, I was pretty much telling P.S.Z. that I had the same problem, namely getting CTDS for X-Mas rather than now, when we both happen to want it, albeit for a different reason, hers being debt, mine being that my folks want to get it for me for X-Mas.
Calling someone "childish" is not something to be taken lightly, so excuse me for thinking that I might not be the only one you say this to.
Just saying.

...bring a DS with Chrono Trigger?
-
I'm afraid my people didn't make DSes back when I was sucked into Time's Eclipse *smirk*
-
*snort*
-
They had to have SOME game console back then... I mean it's Zeal.
-
The only game they had was Hit the Earthbound, got boring fast :(
-
Well sure we had some level of virtual reality but... *lowers head*
-
Aww just think of the fact that a whole archipelago was created in order to save you, that oughtta cheer you up
-
*facepalm*
I would not like that game.
-
Aww just think of the fact that a whole archipelago was created in order to save you, that oughtta cheer you up
*smiles* Ah yes...
-
I'll hopefully be picking up my copy sometime next week. This is one of my most anticipated games.
-
I'm gonna get it eventually. But I have no idea when. It's going to be a while after Christmas though. *Sigh*
-
Just got the "Forgotten past" ending (the part with Ayla is cute and funny). I plan on just moving up and capping Lavos every time it yields a new ending. This is how far up the chain I am. Next, the ending with Frog and Jacky fighting. It helps that Robo has Armageddon arm from the 2300 vortex. You guys have GOTTA find this thing, and give him a dragon pierce/tear while you're at it. You won't regret it. FALCON PAAAWWNCH!!
-
I could see the beautiful blue hair of the goddess, who freed me. I rushed forward and gave her a kiss I knew she would never forget. Then my eyes began to focus and I found myself holding Janus. He did not look happy.
I don't kiss strangers. >_>
-
I don't think Schala has any love interests
Well....... Serge maybe according to Mr. Weddding Photo
-
lol, try telling Crono that in Mortonhayle's parody of the game. This isn't the first time he makes life miserable for Janus. and he's well convinced he has a shot with Schala. In the end, even she turns on him, and the only girl he's met thus far that he doesn't end up hating is Marle.
-
What parody?
-
This one: http://www.freewebs.com/mortonhaylesctstory/index.htm (http://www.freewebs.com/mortonhaylesctstory/index.htm)
-
He likes pointing out little oddities about the game as seen through Crono's eyes.
At this point, we'll all... vooooo!!!! "What?? We'll all voo?? I'm so sick and tired of these people..."
"what?? are those rations for us?? The chef, he's saved us all!!" And then the knight captain ate ALL of the jerky.
Also, my old quote about Magus hitting Lavos with a stick. Which, btw, he STILL DOES in the DS GAME. Someone said it looked cooler this time, but...

Damn them! Damn them all to hell!
-
It doesn't look cooler but now at least he's not all like "Omg it doesn't work", just mildly shocked that it had no effect at all.
That fanfic is pretty sweet (though a bit sexual), good for some laughs :P
-

Their dreams that they keep talking about? lol
-

Well....... Serge maybe according to Mr. Weddding Photo
I have my eyes on a few guys but I'm against marriage...
-
Would one of those guys be older than dirt, have a mysterious past that he'd rather not discuss, wield a nifty-green magic sword, and kick the Devil's ass for a living, using his own tricks against him? :?
I know, I'm not funny. :(
-
Other than you? Nope...
-
*happens to be drinking a Mountain Dew at that time, and ends up... doing what Godot is doing below:

O.O
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?
-
I finally got my copy from Japan! :D ... after some trouble.
-
>>>>back on topic<<<<
I've gotten my copy, but also have had a decient work load so only a few hours in to the game thus far. I do want to know why my monster won't learn techs.
-
I finished the rom only last night, and I'm up to the trial in my actual card (yes, I know, I'm slow).
I do want to know why my monster won't learn techs.
Just give it a Feral Claw every time you send it out till it learns one.
-
Just give it a Feral Claw every time you send it out till it learns one.
That will make it change into another creature not learn a tech. I think the best way is to save before you attempt to teach it any elemental tech. If it fails load the save before you sent it out and try again. I managed to get mine to learn three of them quite quickly doing this. Also it seems you can only have three elemental techs in case you are wondering.
