Curious to know if anyone at all on these fine forums will be attending SakuraCon this year.
If so, I'd like to know in order to get a chance to have a little gathering or at least meet up.
I shall proudly be attending all 3 days (4 if you count badge pickup on April 1st), and would seriously love to run into anyone from here if they're attending... Oh, and here is a list of what cosplay costumes I'll be wearing and on what days =

(Rather a bummer, but I planned to also cosplay as a gijinka-ish version of Boota from Gurren Lagann; couldn't find all I needed for it to be done in time for SC, but hopefully I can find the rest in a month or so and get it done over the summer to wear at other cosplay events I'll be attending. Same thing goes with another epic costume in the works - to be young Janus from Chrono Trigger!)

@ Zephira = I'd totally love to run into you if I can! And by meetup, I simply meant tracking down one or more folks from the board and hanging out a bit or whatever. Looking forward to seeing your costume. ^_~

As it stands, I'm unemployed and can't afford it. :(
I can afford the bus ride from Lakewood to Seattle, but that's it. :P

Skylark, you could do what my dad usually does every year!
The main hall of the convention center, where all the escalators are, is free to anyone. What my dad does is just show up and hang around there - "cosplay watching" as he calls it...LOL.

That's like being able to walk around in Disneyland but not ride on any of the rides.

That area was the Wifi lounge during PAX, so if you brought your DS or similar system, you could play with the other people attending the con. It's also a convenient meeting place if you want to find your friends for activities outside of the convention.

@ LJE = Yeah, but when you're poor, it's sure better than nothing (plus, most of the outdoor cosplay photoshoots are able to be enjoyed; one year, my dad got to participate in the Final Fantasy photoshoot with the FF9-style black mage costume he's become somewhat known for - which was great for him since he was depressed that he didn't have enough money to pay for admission to the con).
@ Zephira = I know, isn't it great! The awesomeness of the DS. <3

w00t! Less than 2 weeks now until the con!!!
And in addition to the already EPIC list of guests they're having this year (not to mention the premiere of a new Trigun movie), they just dropped another bomb on everyone - Ryo Horikawa is coming!!!!!!!
(if I were to mention the line "IT'S OVER 8000"*, you might guess who he's best known for voicing)

Badge pickup today! Sakuracon tomorrow! My costume is finished!
I'll be the only Schala with real hair. If someone shows up in a (good) Magus costume, this will be the best weekend ever.

Badge pickup was a success! There were already a bunch of cosplayers out today, and the convention hasn't even started yet. So far to make an appearance was half a Naruto, Link (complete with ocarina concert), the Scout and Sniper of Team Fortress, Giovanni of Team Rocket in all his orange-tuxedo'd glory, a Flareon, Espeon, and Pikachu, and most of the Gurren Lagan team.

Well the con is over! It was very fun, and Karsh and Riddel made an appearance! Sadly, no other Chrono characters, though there were a few Chrono cartridges on sale for $60. I'll post photos when my friend emails them.

OMG, is that last picture Robo standing next to ASIMO!? Darn, they should actually make a Robo ASIMO unit.
It must be so outlandish, to actually walk amongst videogame characters. I could probably muster up the courage to dress up as one, but seeing other people around me dressed as videogame characters might freak me out. Unless it were Halloween, in which case it would be awesome.

Walking amongst video game and anime characters, all with wild hair and coloured eyes was amazing. For once, having blue hair was normal! It makes being around plain people again feel so odd.
What's even more awesome is seeing Riddel browsing the copic markers and sketchbooks at the Vendor Hall, getting advice on pizza (which, unfortunately, I didn't heed) from the big evil guy in Bleach, making friends with Team Fortress's Scout while attending a Team Rocket meeting, squeezing onto an escalator step between Renji and Shadow Link, and getting a goodbye hug from Kamina at the end of the convention. Seriously, people need to dress like this in day to day life. Plain clothes are just so boring.

Don't worry, California is the proud home of BlizzCon in Anaheim! My first and favourite convention. Or you could drive to Seattle for PAX. Cross-state drives are fun and full of beautiful scenery. (also the weather is a lot better here so the convention hall won't be as hot)

@ Zephira = My friend Kim is depressed to have not run into you at the con. She brought her Queen Zeal costume and wore it a while in the evening (I think it was the 2nd day). And I'm surprised to have not run into you, either. That's the problem with so many tons of people going around all the time. Heh heh. ^_^;
And I think I have a good pic of the Robo cosplayer somewhere. He's unfortunately a bit annoyed at me for telling folks (that Karsh cosplayer, too) that I was going to be Janus at the con... but hey, plans don't always work out (especially when it comes to financial issues). But dammit, no matter what, I am going to cosplay as him for either PAX or AkiCon!!! At least I've got my bud Kim to support me (she's going to help me get a wig).
