Title: CT+ Demo 2 "Eternal End" / Bug Report Thread
Post by: Glennleo on February 24, 2008, 05:45:54 pm
Copied from "Unofficial" TF Exports Thread...

Zakyrus...

At long last the CT+ Demo2 is here!!

Things to note:
This hack is HUGE. So huge that for now it is spanned across 2 roms. The included PlayOrder.txt will explain how that works. In addition, there is a big in-game reminder of when to load ROM2.

This is still quite buggy in a few places, Glennleo and I are still going over it. Don't be surprised if you find text corruption or a black screen of impending demise somewhere. So save quite often. I apologize if there's any point where you become stuck and cannot continue... though I haven't come across anything like this yet.

Also, when in the Ocean Palace keep in mind that the "Zeal Mages" can freeze the game when they use their "Lock Tech" move. I can't figure this out as to why this occurs yet, so be aware.

I WILL be making a follow-up update that I will release in the coming weeks, so that any thing that I find will be patched.
But for now... courage.

Here you are!!

More notes from Zakyrus, copied from the "Unofficial" TF Exports Thread...

Hi.

ChronoTrigger+ Demo2: Codenamed "Eternal End"

I am glad to be able to make this post and inform you that the CT+ demo2 goes very well.... even though it appears like I have disappeared from this reality for some time. Sorry to everyone for the delay! (I seem to be cursed with absence from this forum.)

My absence from this forum has not been in vain! Demo2 will be released to the public within the next 24 hours! You'll all be glad to know that the game will have MUCH more enriched content than EVER before! YOU ARE ALL IN FOR A TREAT! I can say without ego that THIS may be the best Chrono Trigger patch EVER!! ...aside from total conversions such as Crimson Echoes...(which totally RULES!!)

I WOULD have demo2 done and released by now if it weren't for some EVIL, EVIL bugs that keep happening.(some taking as many as 20-30 hours to figure out and fix...I wish I was joking) Not only that but the million set-backs that real life can have. I know this demo has been pushed back many numerous times.

HOWEVER, all things worth having, require much patience.
But also remember, I am the only person that is doing cut scene development and event coding. (and I want it that way, for now)

I would estimate that about 5 hours extra are added. This GREATLY  depends on how fast you play through the game. For instance, if you rush through, you will probably get to Lavos around the same playtime as normally. I noted that on a brand New Game, it took me a total of XXXX hours to get/do everything.
Therefore, take your time, don't rush... I know all of you are excited to see what I have in store in the second half of the game... Heh heh. Wink ...and I got a plethora of new cut scenes... BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS, don't rush... you want to enjoy it eh?

Some features include: Enhanced Cut scenes, NPCs, New Bosses, Cut scenes depending on current party, hidden treasures stashed all over, rebalanced enemy stats (yet again!), and ALOT more!

So... until the CT+ demo2 release, enjoy some more various spiteful screen shots! I had about 100 screen shots I wanted to put up, but of course had to limit them down to a few ;p

...Characters elaborate on the current situation more...
for instance, Lucca talks alot more of various Quantum
Physics theories and such.

(Myself being fascinated with anything quantum, just had to add alot of it to the discussion in the game. There are some parts where Lucca may spin circles around you! All my fellow eggheads rejoice!)

PC to NPC interaction!

Most all of the NPCs upgrade their dialog as storyline pointers increase! The NPCs now react as the world around the changes! Only on a basic level for now, a more complex NPC interaction will be coded later! In some cases, the NPCs weren't enhanced due to some bugs that the particular location event file had.

New Cutscenes!

Special Cutscenes depending on WHO is in your party!

In the above shot, Marle or Lucca will question if Robo can go into water. If Robo isn't present, this cut is never seen. By creating
variations of cutscenes depending on the current party, we can then have a plethora of more storyline tangents! (thus creating MANY, MANY more possible ways to play through the game...1337)

Another example, is Ozzie's Fortress. Depending on if Magus is in your party, Frog is in your party, neither are in your party, or BOTH Magus and Frog are in your party will depend on the dialog shown!
Though the latter is simply hilarious. Dynamic party cut scenes! How utterly awesome! In demo3, I hope to have dynamic cutscenes for all storyline events like this.

Scenes that the Square designers should have left in!

Kino and the Gate Key

...AND New Insidious Puzzles such as the Manorial Organ!

You REALLY didn't think I was going to make this game EASIER did you?! Twisted Evil AHA HA HA HA HA! (visualize a few continuous pages evil laughter)

I don't want to give anything else away, but I will say that the side quests have been massively enriched. Particularly, extended scenes in Fiona's Forest and the Rainbow Shell Quest.

...and a FU**LOAD more of genuine CT content!

So much has been coded and tweaked that even a "Chrono Trigger Addict" will barely notice ALL of the enhancements! (unless you're like me and have gone through the game 60+ times) In fact, over time I have enhanced so many subtle things that I went back and played the original Chrono Trigger and was shocked on how "empty" it felt. Laughing

REMEMBER, like demo1 this IS in fact a DEMO, don't try to compare this to a completed hack... though I WILL say that what is there is VASTLY improved from demo1. (demo1 was actually laughable compared to this)
Though, keep in mind that some stuff is still somewhat buggy.

I will note that some of the cutscenes that aren't enhanced:

Last Village: "The Dark Day After Part2"
- after meeting/defeating Magus and going back to the Empty Hut
~this wasn't totally finished due to horribly insidious bugs.

Death Peak
This is totally absent due to some coding issues...

Atropos/Robo Origins
This was a 10-minute long cut that Kyronea came up with, due to lack of
time I didn't get it added in this demo.

"Moonlight Parade Ending"
- this was kind of thrown together so animations and such are really limited

There are a few others here and there, but those are only the major ones. All other cutscenes not mentioned are at a 90% completed status.
(90% meaning I still need to add/fix animations as well as add sound/special FX)

HOWEVER, once again I WILL say that this is PACKED with alot of new material. I bet you'll get to the end of the game and think "I didn't think it was going to be THAT damn good!" I promise you AT LEAST that. Smile

Final notes:

This mod is rated "Mature" for restored swearing, drug references (sake instead of soup and soda), and some very subtle sexual references. (and I mean VERY light) Laughing

~Thanks for being patient & understanding everyone!

With that said and done, I can prepare the launch of demo2 and get ready to start working on demo3 (codenamed: "Fury of the Ages")

OK!!! So there it is!

Get playing the demo guys and post any and all bugs/glitches/problems you encounter while playing this epic expansion of Chrono Trigger!!!

I'll keep this post updated, and organized the best I can while Zakyrus is away, but fear not!
He will return in a week or two to release yet another, "Un-bugified" version of this demo, with even more content!!!!
Unreal!!! Does he ever sleep?!!

Anyways, I'll get things started with the bugs I have found in a little bit.

Try not to post multiple bugs, if it can be helped.
So try to skim over other players posts, before posting the bugs you may have found.
Screen caps are always appreciated when reporting bugs, and make sure to read his FAQ/README of issues we already are aware of.

With that take care everyone, and I hope you all enjoy playing this expanded version of Chrono Trigger!!!

Well said, Glennleo!  8)

Does he ever sleep?!!

That one is questionable. My main modding times are 1 to 6 am.  :D
You can definately tell I don't have a love life. Ha ha ha!  :P

Also, when in the Ocean Palace keep in mind that the "Zeal Mages" can freeze the game when they use their "Lock Tech" move.

This sounds like something I encountered in the Retranslation. If you edited the monster list in Temporal Flux 2.55 or earlier, it wrote to some null values at the end that cause freezing problems in battles. Try editing the monster name list with the latest version and see if that fixes it.

I'm also thinking that's what happened. I'll try that. (hopefully it works)

Out of curiosity, how big are the ROMs for this?

6-megs a piece. ...and only because I didn't want to 'risk' overwrite corruption. By demo3, we hope to have it down to one 8-meg ROM. ...but currently ZSNES has not added 8-Meg support yet.

/smack ZSNES

(I was checking what the system limits for an SNES were around the same time I asked this - it's just shy of 15MB for the cartridge, so if you were able, in some manner, to test it on a real SNES, the whole thing would work as a single 96Mbit cartridge, theoretically with no problems. :D)

Eh, you guys aren't horribly off topic, but yea bugs and questions pertaining to the hack game play itself are what this thread is all about.

10 min of playing nothing wrong that I see.

Minor bugs:

*The Porre Mayors and is wife are glowing(story or bug?)

*Isn't the piano at truce inn supposed to play?

*Text garbal with skill teacher at mayors house.

*Tent of horrors wouldn't accept my silver points, I had 25 and selected the 10 point option.

*During a fight w/3 blue eaglets in 600A.D. forest, when I killed the farthest left they all "died" but battle screen resumed. Chrono then became confused and the monsters kept going. even though they all just died.

*all houses in 600 A.D. give me the black screen of death.

Time for a Glennleo quick Bug Report...

Some may be similar or very close to repeats of what Kebrel said, but I have pics of most of them so I'll just post them anyways. Mwhahah, it's good to be the thread maker.

These are bugs I have found prior to entering the telepod.

Like Kebrel said this piano will not play, whether you pick sure or sorry.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00001.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00002.jpg)
These two NPCs glow as if they have slow cast on them. Hard to tell by the pics.  Not sure, like Kebrel said if it is a bug or part of the sun stone story. Even if it was part of the Sun Stone story, they shouldn't glow this early in the game.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00003.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00005.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00008.jpg)
Blank text boxes appears after talking to these NPCs. Nothing game breaking, but would be nice to fix for a nice aesthetic feel.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00004.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00006.jpg)
Both of these NPCs are partially inside their background graphic. Yet another aesthetic problem.

Black Jack is broken as far as I can tell. I once had a hand that said my first card was a 5, and the second a 4. That's 9 right? Well the game said I had 16. Weird, I need to test this game out more to see how broken it really is.

That's it for now. I'll keep pluggin away and I hope the rest of ya do too.

Slow and steady wins the race. Remember that.

hmm the Blackjack works fine for me,except I got 21 four times in a row(J10,A10,10A,K10). never counted wrong though.

I do have the worst luck with roms, every time I enter a house in 600A.D. it just goes black(guard at the castle says go to the inn), I had the similar issue with the retranslation, I am going to patch a different CT rom to see if it helps.

EDIT: Then new rom works much better.

OK. I'll try Black Jack again tonight sometime and post my findings. I'll also go through the telepod scene, and check out the houses in 600 A.D to see if it is your ROM or the hack.

It seems it's just you and I testing for now. Unless a lot of people are playing it and not posting >.>.
Thanks Kebrel all the same.

Well I played a little more tonight, but I'm proving I can still level up in Guardia Forest, even though Z buffed the mobs, so I haven't gone to 600 A.D yet. (And btw you still can, but it requires much more resting in Crono's house, and selling of the mid tonics you find to buy the weapons and armor down at the Market in Porre, but anyways I digress.)

Black Jack is still fooked up for me. I got the 5 and 4 again and it said I had 16. It miss adds a lot of the time, when I play it for some weird reason. Kebrel I just don't think you played it enough lol.

It definitely doesn't understand that an Ace can be an 11 or a 1, even though it states it can in the rules. I got an Ace and a 6, which is of course 7 or 17. so I said draw, and got a 10. So I was like, eh no big deal I'll still have a 17, but the game said I had a 27 and busted. Z needs to fix this thing asap lol, because it is a nice feature and I really want it to work right.

You were right about the games not working. I had 41 points, and when I clicked on the 40 points game it said I didn't have enough. It also said I didn't have enough when I clicked the 10 points option. One can only assume it would say the same thing at 80 points, but I'll test it again later once I beat on Gato some more.

Well that's it for now, but don't expect too much out of me until Thursday night or so. I got a history exam on Thursday so I need to study tomorrow and Wednesday night as much as I can lol.

Later Alpaha Testers.

Well I got lucky today with having a Snow Day, so I got to play a little bit. I got past the Manorial Cathedral, and am on my way back to 1000 A.D.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00010.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00011.jpg)
Proving even with 101 points, the 80 points game refuses to work as well.

Could you always walk through Taban?

Proving that the buildings in 600 A.D. don't give me the black screen of death. Must be your ROM Kebrel.

Small typo. Of cours!!

Where am I? lol
(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00016.jpg)
Floating head.
Simple pallet errors need fixing.

Hmmm, the King is resting? Where?

Another blank screen after a conversation.

Missed the graphic, but when the illusions turn into Naga-ettes, the blue flame is not centered over the King illusion.

Sometimes for me, the last note, the R, wouldn't play for me. It finally did, so maybe I made a mistake somewhere? Eh maybe worth checking into.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of Dragon Ball Z, errr, I mean CT+!

If the silver points don't work how are we supposed to get a Crono clone when the time comes?

If the silver points don't work how are we supposed to get a Crono clone when the time comes?

I honestly don't know.

I'm just hoping that some event later in the game triggers that event to occur. If I recall correctly, the time you are required to get the clone the game is free, at least for the first try. Only if you want the clone early does it cost you silver points.  Could be wrong on that though, it's been awhile.

Was fighting in 600 AD Guardia Forest, and I took the first left and fought the three birds, and after all three were dead, I didn't quite freeze, but the battle kept going on with an unseeable and untargetable opponent...

Dunno what this means.

Welp, History test was moved til next week due to that snow day, so I played a little more and got to 2300 A.D.

Blank screen appears after talking to the cotton candy vendor.

I had a 101 silver points before I got a music note, a music note, and a 7. I didn't get any winning tone, but I suddenly had 350+ silver points. Werid. Is that a winning combination?

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00023.jpg)  (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00024.jpg)
I played the slots until I got around 500 silver points, and then this guy(one on the left) said I only had 256.

The regular guy, however said I had 500. I'm assuming he's correct, and the new guy is not.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00025.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00026.jpg)
A little typo on forward. Also a blank text box appears after every juror gives their verdict. A little annoying.

I still hate the sleep animation down there, but don't know what we can do to remedy it.

I don't think it's an error, but all three of them get blown high after the tank explodes. Looked glitchy, but they were probably meant to be blown up a little bit.

This always bugged me. How the f*** does the Chancellor appear out of the main door? He was at the exact same place I was. We need to fix this and make him appear behind Crono and the gang somehow.

This leads to the problem of how the King finds out and comes out. Hmmm. How could we make that work?

That's it for now. I'm still kinda mad my Lode Sword, or w/e it's equivalent is now, wasn't in the prison.
What gives Z? I need teh swordz to fitz teh monstas bettah! (I'm gonna see if that sword in the sewer is still there, mwhahaha! )

Anyways, off to the Arris Dome.

The Z's are from Lucca's gun she gets when she comes to your "rescue". The Zonker -38 puts everything to sleep for at least one turn it seems. Last demo I kept it on her through the whole thing, it's pretty overpowered.

I know, I meant that I wanted the Zs to be above the Dragon Tank's head, because that is where I was shooting it. Not down by the wheels.

Well it is Friday, so I played all the way through the End of Time!
Of course I found a few errors along the way, but nothing too major this time.

(http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00030.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00031.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00032.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00033.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00034.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/Glennleo2/ChronoTrigger1_00035.jpg)

Blank text boxes GALORE!!! I posted them all to emphasize how annoying they are during this great cut scene.

This terminal didn't work, but I forget if it even does at this point of the game.

I'm pretty sure Johnny is the one who is supposed to be saying this as well as the other 2-3 lines after he beats you. Could be wrong though.

The first time when I fought this battle in the Lab 32 Ruins against 5 Mirages, the game like glitched up and I had to restart. I killed 4 of them with Slash, and then finished up the other one with Marle and Lucca(maybe Crono too with slash again, I forget), and it like vanished like a typical death, but with a weird sound. Marle got confused, and the game froze.
The second time through however, the battle worked perfectly fine. Weird.

I missed the screen shot, but right before you go into the portal, after Lucca says something like "Hang on, something's weird..." or w/e she says, there is a blank text box as well.

That's all for now.

Keep on truckin' alpha team, keep on truckin'!

I guess most of the blank text boxes are due to {instant full break}.
Quote from: Zakyrus
{instant full break} & {instant page break} now create a empty box after the break in which the user must press a button to continue.

Quote from: JLukas
Those commands are designed to display more text afterwards.  If your goal is to have the textbox close automatically once it is finished, use a Delay 00.

When I first went to 65,000,000 BC and beat the four Kilwalas circling the rock, Ayla popped back and said... Something.  There were a few screens of it, actually, but I only managed to catch this last one.

I found a couple bugs that haven't been mentioned. When I went to the fair to get the Crono clone, the whole front end and Gato had messed up text.

I took these after I got Crono back.

Concerning what FalconHit said earlier about the silver points. I was able to get the clone after fighting Gato a couple times. Even though the guy who trades silver points for money said I had none.

So far, the game is awesome! I found a few other bugs, most of which I forgot. When I started Fiona's quest to save the forest, and went into the sunken desert, the game froze for the first battle. Tried it again and it worked fine. Note: I went down the first time then went left the second try.

I'll probably play it again and try to catch the bugs I had found before.

Also, I'm not sure if this is relevant, but when I was supposed to go back in to 600, ZSNES would immediately close itself whenever I would load a savestate -- this is why I'm using SNES9x now, which is working perfectly.

I haven't had too many problems at all with ZSNES, besides the occasional glitch in the ROM, which could just have easily been corruption of the actual ROM itself.

As for your guys' problems, be sure to have the latest version of ZSNES, because other people in this thread have found this patch doesn't work quite as well in them as the newest version.

But regardless, if you want to use SNES9x by all means do so.

Glad to see a few more people have jumped on board with the testing. Z will be very pleased!  :D

I have been trying to go to 600 AF but I get the Black Screen of Death. This is after I finished the Fiona quest. I'm going to try doing all my 600 AD quests before that one and see if that makes any differance. Unfortionitly this means I have to go all the way back to Death Peak again.

I'm using the Snes9X, not for Mac though.

This ROM is pretty kickass so far... Except that the dialogue in Magus's castle is very much the same as the original. What's up with that? Also, if you have Frog not speak his Shakespearean version of English in CT+, notice that after the flashback with him and Cyrus, he still says "Awaketh, Crono!". Just something you should correct.

Thank you, I worked very hard on it. :D

So far it seems that doing the Fiona quest last is working and I'm having no trouble going through time.
Also, when I talked to the chef in 1000 AF, the game apeared to keep going but Crono refused to move.

Don't want to double post so I'm editing this again.
I did all the quests, and it turns out that after you do Fiona's quest, you can't go back to 600 AF any more.

And I edit it again!
When I go through that door, I get the Black Screen of Doom!

Now that I look at it, many seem to be because of importing (overwrite corruption?).
Anyways, I am fixing ALOT of them that wern't, (and adding new stuff aswell!)
The bug-fix patch will be online exactly one week from today (so friday the 14th). I GUARENTEE I will be online as I will be going to my dad's house.

Also, DO NOT go to Lavos unless you want be be totally PISSED. (the game froze in the worst possible place) Be patient. The Bug-fix update is coming!

Very nice! :)

But if you would use xdelta (http://xdelta.org/) (3.0) instead of IPS your patch would be 259KB in size instead of 4,1MB. ;)
However, one would have to have xdelta installed to apply the patch. (It's open source and available for Windows and *nix.)

Ok. Listen up. I am preparing the launch of CT+ Eternal End Beta1.
I got alot more done in the last week than I thought I would.  8)

It will be sometime within a day or so.
It's much improved from the alpha release... I am currently combing through the hack removing all corrupted text locations and places where the game freezes. It is 99% working, but I have a hunch that there's one place that I missed. ('specially since I am like running on no sleep, I'm bound to have missed something).

So stay tuned!  :lee:

Sometimes when you press a button, it acts stupid. I will perfect this later. If you have trouble with it, try pressing the button and holding it for half a second or so, sometimes that seems to help.

Like a few others, I'm having difficulty with the second organ code. The final "R" is never accepted. I've tried hitting it quickly, I've tried holding the button down, I've tried halfway in between those two...nothing works. I even updated to the Beta patch of the game, which I had hoped would have fixed that problem, but it's still there. I'd love to play more of this game, but I can never get past that part.  :( Have any suggestions?

As a side note, I noticed that if you enter in "L" instead of the "R" it will allow you to enter in "ABA" again. If you press "L" again you can keep continuing the pattern infinitely. It still gave the 'dings' of correct input even when I put in "LABALABALABA" which was neat.  :D

What emulator are you using? I had the same problem and was using Snes9x 1.43. I finally got the organ code to work after I loaded it up in the latest version of Zsnes. It still took three tries, but it finally did work and I was able to continue with the game! (Afterwards I saved and reloaded it in Snes9x because I don't like Zsnes...:D)

I suggest trying a different emulator if you can't get the code to work no matter how many times you try. That alone might be enough solve the problem. (The input codes don't seem to work well with Snes9x, because I also had some trouble with the code at Arris Dome. It took several attempts, but I finally got it to work without switching emulators.)

The Jadeleaf plants that you can obtain on the Derandro Mountains turn into Mythril Ore. They must grow very strangely, or it's a glitch.  :?

Also, I don't know if this is a glitch, but my characters mass-leveled after fighting Masamune.

While playing the beta, I hit a stopping point in the kingdom of Zeal.  When I try to go into the hallways of either the mammon machine or the throne room, I get a black screen and can go no further.

I'm wondering if the room where Janus goes through the door behind the bookshelf is where I'm missing something, because there is a wind book like the ones in Kajar and Enhasa, but no fire or water books that I can find.

The only way I could move past this point was cheating to go through the bookshelf, which took me to Leene square then to the elevator of the undersea palace with Magus as the leader of my party.  The game plays just fine after this, aside from having Magus a bit early.

Also, I seem to remember being able to leave the tunnel leading to the lavos core in the original.  In the beta, whether I go through the black omen, the bucket, or the day of lavos, I cannot turn back after beating Lavos' first form.  This kept me from going through the black omen 3 times to score prism dresses, bummer.

I'm just wondering what I did wrong to get stuck at this point, since I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem.  I don't think it's a patching issue, because I was able to play the game normally up to this point and didn't use cheats until I got stuck there.

Aside from the zeal problem, the demo is great.  I love the changes and the extra scenes.  I'm going to go through a new game+ just to go through the story again.  Great job.

Aren't memory values/addresses tricky? Remember, when you use codes, you're telling the game to do things for which it was not designed to do. (Data corruption, Overflow, and Glitches due to unset parameters usually arise once in a while.  :()

Just so you know, my intellectual pride lies battered on the floor as I type this.

I just patched a clean rom and started a new game, I'm already noticing some differences, namely that Crono started with equipment, unlike the other rom.  I must have patched my original rom with another hack and forgot about it, then patched the beta on top of it.  I haven't made it to zeal yet, but that was probably the issue.

I should have thought of that from the beginning.  It just didn't occur to me because it played well until that point.  My apologies for the dumb post, and for this post apologizing for it.  That's what I get for ignoring Occam's Razor.

Anyway, thank you for the quick response.

Once again, excellent hack.

I disagree. I have patched a clean, unhacked version of Chrono Trigger with the beta of CT+ and I'm getting the exact same problem. I walk to the door that leads to the corridor that Schala walks in and I get nothing but the black screen of death.

Good to know that I'm not the only one.

I did in fact patch over a patched rom, but that was not the source of my problem.  The same black screen happened again with a clean rom.  I guess I'll just try another one.

To those who have gotten this to work, which emulator should I use?  I've tried zsnes 1.50, snes9x 1.51, and 1.43.

Sorry to be such a bother about this.

Hey Guys,

I decided to look into the problem for you guys and it looks like Map C1 (Hall to throne room) has been corrupted in that patch...It was like....literally gone?

So it's definitely not an emulator problem   I went ahead and I imported the original map and it fixed it however I've never seen a map totally blank out like that I'm worried that something new in CT+ has written over the data and thus my import overwrote whatever overwrote map C1 haha.

That being said I tested out that one particular location and it is working now, all the code was fine it was just the map that was gone.

I attached a patch that you have to apply to a fresh nonheadered CT Rom (it's  not just a patch to fix that one map it has to be applied to a fresh rom)

--JP

Just tried the new patch and it works.  The corridor leading to the Mammon Machine works too, but there are two NPCs stuck in the wall, which is no big deal.  I'm just glad I can continue playing this great hack.

Thank you for taking the time to look into this for us.  I think I can speak for us all when I say we really appreciate it.

Hm.....it's possible that Zakyrus physically changed  the map for the hack which could cause the NPC's in the wall issue.  I imported the original map from chrono trigger which could be the cause of it, but if you can still get through the walls this should be a quick "hack" (haha get it? )  to continue the game.

Damn it! I tried the patch you just gave us, patched it with a fresh ROM, continued where I left off (before I enter the Zeal Palace) and I STILL get a black screen when I either go to where Schala goes or towards the room with the Mammoth Machine! What's going on!?

So after I go to Frog, give him the Hero medal, and get the other piece of the Masamune, the portal doesn't show up. It doesn't open and the character disapear behind it when they go through. It also happened when I arrived at Medina village in 1000 AF.

When I go to save my game, the text overlaps it and looks like this:

When Frog takes the Masamune, the blue glow doesn't appear.

Sailor Phantom:

It seems like your just having really weird tile/sprite priority issues.  Maybe using an old emulator?  For example the Big portal is there it's just hidden behind tiles (you can tell cause you can see it behind the candles).  I'm guessing the blue beam is behind he mountain......portal is behind towers/sprites behind portal and the saved game is behind the text instead of in front of it.

Yeah, probably. Oh and I used the patch you put up and it works. Plus, all the things I mentioned, all work normally.

This is where to post errors from the beta, right? (I had posted in the other thread where I downloaded it, but I noticed a bit saying this was where to post?)

Looks like an awesome patch, working my way through as I play through a low-level game.

Noticed a problem with the Zonker-38 - apart from the description, it appears to have lost all it's stats - 0 attack power, and can't be re-equipped on Lucca after you unequip it (can't be equipped on anyone according to the inventory page after you unequip it).

EDIT: Not exactly sure how I managed it, but once I managed to walk around the trigger for Hekran, and walked further ahead for the death scene.  Haven't been able to repeat it though, sadly. :(

I apologize if anyone's mentioned this before, but the battle music isn't coming up for me in Guardia Forest when I run into the enemies there...and I 'EFFIN LOVE IT! Is this actually a feature and not a bug? I'm really digging it.

This is a feature...  :)

Zonker-38 is fubar in this version. Later when I can actually edit the specs of weapons, I am going to improve this as well as make the Sleep effect actually happen randomly (as well as make bosses immune to it).

I don't have time to look through all of the bug reports yet, but it looks to me people are able to play it near-flawless or have total problems... I myself, have run through it many times now and still don't see most of the bugs reported here...

Make sure you:
1. Use a blank Chrono Trigger ROM (don't patch on an existing CT+ hack!)
2. Remove the header of the CT ROM (load it up in TemporalFLux, it will ask if you want to remove the header, hit yes save the ROM and exit)
3. Then patch the ROM.

(In later versions I will start using headered ROMs to eliminate confusion...)

Also, there is the CT+ beta1.1 update coming soon. I'm unable to launch it now, but give it a week or two.

Features include (but are not limited to):
Fixed minor bugs such as the Manoria Chapel Organ puzzles...etc.
More enhanced cutscenes! (when do I ever quit?!)
A sidequest for Ayla (woot!)
...and more!

Stay tuned!

VERY Long Rambling List of Mistakes I've Noticed:

There are some spelling errors ("skillty"), some grammar errors ("that will not going to accomplish anything!"), but they're not too much of a problem. There are also several instances of two words missing a space between them, and oddly enough most of them were "aswell".

There are a numerous occasions where Frog's dialouge wasn't updated. Most of these seem to be event related parts where Marle and Lucca will take the main role in if they're in your party. It was particularly noticeable during the Death's Peak scenes.

After the first time talking to Melchior in Medina he gives you the option of buying things from him. The two choices he gives you were blank of text every time I talked to him. It was easy to figure out which line meant what and there was no trouble buying from him, so it wasn't really a big deal.

The run in with the Frog King had some problems. My first time playing, I somehow managed to avoid seeing him at Denadoro, so I was a bit confused when I fought him. During the actual battle, every couple of frames his sprite would "fall apart" and become a jumbled mess of graphics. After defeating him, I went outside the Mystic Cave and saved my game. When I re-entered the map, the Frog King and his lackies were back but another battle didn't initiate, so I had to start the entire game over again!

Although this isn't a bug, I really didn't like being forced to take Marle and Lucca to the Ocean Palace. I always choose Frog over Marle and I love Robo's dialouge so I almost always have them in my party. This meant that my Marle and Lucca were very underused at that point. It was frustrating to have no warning that I'd be stuck with an underequipped and Cure-less Marle. :(

I used the patch posted earlier in this thread to get through the Ocean Palace, but immediately after the next save point I switched back to a ROM that only had "Eternal End" patched to it. So, the following glitches may or may not have been influenced by having used that patch.

After taking Magus along and getting all of my party members back, the game lets you select your party. After I did, the screen started flashing to black a few times. All the party members disappeared from the screen except for Magus. It did the flashing thing three or four times before forming the party I'd selected.

After the Ocean Palace disaster, both Lucca and Marle had their armor slots wiped. The two Platinums they had equipped literaly disappeared from my inventory, which kind of sucked. (This later also happened with Crono after he was revived, his armor had disappeared somehow.)

When going back to the Mystic Cave, the dialouge for the Crimson-tainted Blades happens again even though the skeleton isn't there and no battle initiates. Also, the Frog King is still waiting on the Zenan side the cave...

At Denadoro, when falling down the waterfalls there's a point where you can get stuck. On the second screen where the bridge is right next to the edge of the falls, you're supposed to walk under it. If the characters walk under the right side, they'll go on top of the bridge and be stuck.

Some weapons and armor have descriptions of "...". The Megaton Arm, Giga Arm and the Terra Arm all have the same description. The description of the Zodiac Cape says "Mg Def +10" when it really give Pwr +4. Power Seal has no description at all.

During the Fated Hour quest at the Northern Ruins, Cyrus starts fading out starting with his feet. By the time his head starts fading, his feet start reappearing! The Sealed Chest in 1000 says that the "Kali Blade" has been powered up when the sword in the 600 Chest is called the "Ogre's Bane".

The Ioka Traders dialouge gets glitched up when he's talking about the 20 of each item.

Giant's Claw had some problems.
-Going there before talking to Toma caused the game to freeze.
-Going to there with anyone other than Crono leading the party caused the game to freeze.
-Having any character that wasn't Marle or Lucca in the second position caused the characters to freeze at the entrance. Even with one of them in second position, the third character froze or just vanished.
-You can switch out Marle/Lucca after entering the cave, but any other character besides them vanishes (Crono will walk around solo).
-The characters will reappear for the second screen (Throne room) but will vanish again in the third screen. In the "Tyrano Lair" maps the characters reappear but in the cave-like maps any character that isn't Crono, Marle or Lucca will disappear. (This seems to go away more or less after you fall down the hole, as my characters appeared for most of the rest of the cave maps[Possibly because those maps have battles and the others didn't?])
-Frog's sprite is somehow stuck off to the left side and the Rainbow Shell is stuck in the wall directly below the cave entrance.
-Fiona and Marco are in the third screen. Fiona give a blank text box and Marco's is a bunch of weird garbage that mentions the Epoch. The Chancellor is also stuck in a wall above the exit on the left.
-Gato, Doan, a future little girl and Robo are all stuck in the left side of a cave-like map and Magus's statue nearly blocks off the exit to the next screen. Talking to Doan yields garbage text and talking to the Magus statue results in "-Robo)". [This is the map before the Tyrano Lair one that opens a trapdoor when you open a treasure chest.]

It appears that the problems in Giant's Claw were somehow related to the Moonlight Parade ending. Frog, the Rainbow Shell and the Chancellor are all on the screen where the chef guy was, which I take it was supposed to be part of a really cool ending. Talking to Frog reasults in garbage text about 'theft' and 'the lock'. The Chancellor doesn't say anything, Fiona still says a blank text box and Marco repeats the same garbage about the Epoch. Magus is also there and says "jb" for some reason and his text box doesn't go away unless you leave the screen.

The future girl, Doan and Gato all seem to act fine. But when you talk to Robo, he calls himself a Nun and says the same thing as the REAL Nun on the other side of the screen. There's also a patch of messed up graphics right outside of the entrance to Gato's exhibit and the entrance to the Prehistoric exhibit.

The text by the Telepod is very messed up. Everyone is speaking gibberish or weird bits and pieces of previous dialouge. (Although it was fun to see Ayla screaming about "psionic adepts" to Kino!) Oh, and the text boxes take forever to close (a few minutes!) After going through all of that weird dialouge, when Crono, Marle and Lucca were the only ones left...the screen froze. Luckily I still got stuff like New Game +, but I feel a bit cheated out of a proper ending... ;)

Even with all those things, this is still the most awesome hacks I've ever played, probably even one of the best video games I've ever played! You put a lot of work into this and it was worth it, it's amazing! The enhanced script really won me over. The final fight against Lavos was fantastic as what you added was something I've always wanted! And the begining was really cool too! XD (And that secret message at Death's Peak was an awesome find!)

So, all and all it was an awesome experience to play Eternal End! Great Job, Zakyrus! :D

Grammer and spelling errors were already mentioned in the known bugs, as was the problem with the Frog King spirte. Skillty was a word Aragorn used in LotR.

I'm surprised you shot this down so easily, it's a pretty legitimate complaint. You can't force people into liking characters they don't really like all that much. I felt kind of the same way, don't care about Lucca so any new dialogue written specifically for her for that scene just fell on deaf ears, usually I bring Marle and anyone else to the Ocean Palace to tell you the truth, they all seem much more interesting then her.

In all honesty I kind of just wanted her (Lucca) to shut up.

Well I can restore it to original status. But then the 3 new cutscenes I'm going to add may not exist if I do. I'll think about this. There's ALOT more stuff done that's not even in the hack yet.

Don't just write me off as a n00b, I've been lurking for years. I almost never post anything...

Anyway, this is in regards to the glitched organ puzzle. I'm not sure if it will be any help, but I saw that other people were having the same problem, and this glitch made me sad for about two hours until it finally registered the final R. The only way I could get it to work was by inputting all the commands as fast as the game would allow. I'm a very deliberate person, but after so long I was getting really ticked, so I did the really hard, quick button presses you do when you're mad at the game. The gamepad equivalent of shouting.
"...B-A-R, dammit! ...Huh. It worked that time."

(Of course, take anything I say with a grain of salt. I used to get my old SNES cartridges to work by threatening them, and my current favored method is to do a Moogle breakdance. Disturbingly, it works.)

EDIT: I've spent all day slowly working my way through, just ran into the Zeal Palace blackscreen. Haven't encountered any real other glitches, so I'm confirming it as a widespread one, since I haven't had any other problems. I'll use the patch to get past it... sometime...

Anyways, on another note, Eternal End 1.1 is in the making. I have little time to do bug-fixing, but it's coming along.
Also, SirusD and I are getting some maps worked with so there'll be some major expansions in some places.

Give it time, it'll get there.

Yey I cant wait!

brifye19 If your still having trouble getting past the mages, attack them first before they do their lock tech and freeze the game, sometimes if you get lucky, it will do this weird glitch where they all 'die' but your still in the battle unable to attack anything but your being attacked by invisible monsters. if thats the case you can just run away and the game doesnt freeze.

I suppose this is a glitch sorry if its been said before:

As someone else said right after you defeat Magus if you go into the cave the dialogue of the Crimson-tainted Blades happens again even though there not there, and if you enter Magus's castle, it brings you back to the chapter Magus's caslte. Ozzie, Flea, and Slash are still defeated but you can fight Magus all over with out Frog in your party.

Anyway great game and I loved the added cut scenes and how you had to take a certain party to the ocean palace and the others stayed and helped thought it was so cool, and I loved when Schala called Magus Janus and- yeah loved it. I'm gonna go finish the demo now lol.

Wow. I must have missed this post. I read it offline as I was going through the list of bugs reported. Yes, I did change the map so that it was larger and more detailed, hence the reason the NPC is stuck.

It's truly disappointing. So I guess I sit and wait for an update!

Edit: Oh and sorry, thought about it and realized this is a bug report thread, just wanted to cheer you on is all :)

Don't worry about it, half of the people that have posted here haven't realized it.
Anyways, you can expect the next beta "soon". haha. That "soon" could be in less time if I get more people to help with maps and stuff. PM me if interested.

The best way I found to learn is to play around with it.  Read the manual and the FAQs posted on this website after you get it working.

Yea I fooled around with it enough to understand how exiting works from one area to another (the whole Gato tent to Lucca's room tutorial). Also fooled around enough to create a copse of trees in Guardia Forest Present, in that clearing in the bottom right. Even figured out all the layering so it looks alright and you can't just walk through it! Also threw in a treasure chest with an Aeon blade, which was fun to kick ass with. Temporal Flux is pretty awesome  :)
