A man in the Truce Inn notes that several earthquakes have been going on recently, and hopes that the big one isn't coming. These quakes aren't mentioned anywhere else in the game. What is this guy referring to?

Answer

In the Chrono Trigger Prerelease, Zenan Bridge was not yet functional along with most of southern Zenan (including Porre). However, one NPC was stationed at the entrance; he spoke in Japanese that the bridge had been destroyed by earthquakes. The Truce Inn man's statement is simply a relic of this stage of development.
